🧡🐾 Gus Gus is looking for his forever indoor home! 🐾🧡
Meet Gus Gus — quite possibly the sweetest orange cat you'll ever meet.
After everything he's been through, all this boy wants is a warm bed, a loving family, and someone to purr beside at night. His foster says he has been happily sleeping with her teenage son every night, soaking up the affection and enjoying the simple comfort of finally feeling safe. 🥹🧡
Gus Gus is the definition of a lap cat. He is calm, affectionate, gentle, and incredibly loving. He gets along well with other cats, has done great around quiet, cat-friendly dogs, and is wonderful with gentle children. He's the kind of cat who settles in beside you, leans into pets, and purrs his heart out. This handsome boy is approximately 3 years old, neutered, vaccinated, litter box trained, and ready for a family of his own.

Gus Gus is FIV positive, which sounds much scarier than it actually is. Cats with FIV who live indoors typically live normal, happy lifespans. FIV is not easily spread through casual contact, grooming, sharing food bowls, or simply living together. Just like human HIV - it takes deep biting wounds or s*x. Because Gus Gus is neutered and exceptionally mellow, he can often safely live with non-FIV-positive cats as well. He does not need daily medicine!
A month ago, Gus Gus came into our rescue after being mistakenly put back outside by the Humane Society for being feral. He was returned outdoors despite being an incredibly friendly, social cat. But then he wasn't thriving on the street (what cat does?) and we picked him up and took him into the Humane Society for a medical review. Because of his tipped ear and his failure to thrive on the street (he's allergic to fleas) they recommended euthanasia - he's had the best six weeks of his entire life in foster care - we want him to have the best next 15 years at least! Please help us by finding him an adopter.
He did have an episode of pillow foot on the streets (pododermatitis), which responded very well to a simple course of doxycycline and has since resolved. Our hope is that living safely indoors will help prevent future flare-ups, but he takes his antibiotics easily and happily if needed.
The biggest thing Gus Gus needs is what every cat deserves: a safe indoor home where he will never have to fend for himself again.
He has great teeth (so no impending dental bills), a giant orange-cat personality, and so much love to give. We truly believe whoever adopts him is going to wonder how they ever lived without him.
