Meet Lily, a sweet 16-year-old who came in for her dental cleaning! 🥰 And yes—16 years old does NOT automatically mean “too old for anesthesia.”

Just like people, every pet is different. When an older pet needs anesthesia, we look at their overall health—not just their age. A thorough physical exam, pre-anesthetic bloodwork, and, when appropriate, additional testing can help us identify potential concerns and create an individualized anesthetic plan.

And why is dental care so important for seniors? 🦷
Untreated dental disease can cause significant pain and infection and may negatively affect a pet’s overall health. Being a senior is not a reason to ignore their teeth!

✨ Age is just one piece of the puzzle. A healthy 16-year-old may be a better anesthesia candidate than a much younger pet with significant underlying disease.

Way to go, Lily, for proving that 16 is fabulous—and worth smiling about! 🧡

This cutie, Mimi came in for a routine dental cleaning—a very important part of keeping those pearly whites (and overall health!) in tip-top shape. Regular professional dental cleanings help remove plaque and tartar buildup that brushing alone can’t reach and allow us to check her teeth and gums for potential problems. 🪥🦷

We’re so sad that it’s Mo’s last week with us before she and her cat, Sly venture off to Colorado. She’ll still a part of the Banfield Family and will be working at a Banfield near Denver. We’re so lucky that we work for a company that believes in retaining our associates and provides opportunities to transfer to other locations.

🐾 Dully, dry coat
