Two 9-week-old puppies who have never known anything except their mama's warmth. Her heartbeat. Her smell.

Today that gets taken away.

Not because she did anything wrong. Not because they did anything wrong. Because the shelter ran out of space — and no one came in time.

I stood at kennel D66 and watched Theon and Jaime look back at me with those eyes that don't understand any of this. Just two babies waiting to figure out if I was the one coming to change everything.

Mama Carla was right there beside them. Watching me too.

This whole family runs out of time today. And if no one steps up — those puppies lose the only safe thing they have ever known.
