Did you know that overgrown nails are one of the most common causes of joint issues in animals? Overgrown nails force a dog's toes to splay, altering the way their paws hit the ground. As nails hit the floor before the paw pad, the dog shifts their weight backward, forcing joints, especially the wrists, ankles, knees, and hips, into unnatural, misaligned positions. This chronic stress and altered walking mechanics accelerate the breakdown of joint cartilage, leading to premature arthritis. Spine strain is also a common issue, as the compensation required to walk with long nails often leads to tension and structural changes in the back.
Make sure to book my nail trimming services for only $20 per pup or kitty. I also offer nail clipping services for rabbits and lizards, although it is not always necessary. Please note that if your pup's nails have grown into their paw pad, a veterinary visit will be required.
