Mosquitos also are the cause of Heartworm in Dogs!! “Heartworm” describes a condition where parasites live and reproduce in the host’s heart. The heartworms themselves can be up to a foot long and are passed by mosquitoes, who carry the larvae from dog to dog. If left untreated, it may be fatal. Heartworm preventatives are prescription-strength medications, and the FDA requires a veterinarian's oversight for safe and effective use. A veterinarian needs to ensure the medication is appropriate for your pet's individual health status and weight. Heart worm testing and medications are provided at our Saturday Vaccination Clinic.
