CALL TO ACTION: Texas Veterinarians Asked to Donate Personal Protective Equipment

With the shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) in hospitals growing worse by the day, Texas State Senator Lois Kolkhorst, chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, has asked TVMA to “Act Now.” Senator Kolkhorst personally contacted TVMA’s leadership to ask that we urge veterinarians to donate any PPE that can be spared. This includes masks, gloves, face shields, gowns, booties, hair covers, etc. These supplies should be donated to local hospitals as soon as possible. Due to a lack of ventilators at hospitals, veterinarians are also asked to consider loaning such equipment if possible.

Thank you!

WOW. What a great and informative CE last night. Dr. Jay Tischendorf and Merial presented a very interesting topic - It really lived up to its name and will make everyone who heard it think a little harder today today when they walk into their clinic.

As TVMA remembers Hurricane Harvey one year later, the association is emphasizing the importance of disaster preparation. We created a clinic disaster preparation plan for veterinary professionals. Stop by the TVMA booth #544 in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center at the Southwest Veterinary Symposium today to pick up our pamphlet.

TVMA loves student involvement in our organization. Glad to see students participating in organized veterinary medicine even as they work diligently at their studies!

Second-year veterinary student of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine (TAMU-CVM), Sidney Leidy, and third-year veterinary student, Alicia Robinson, serve as student representatives of TVMA. Here they are attending TVMA’s Board of Directors meeting at the Southwest Veterinary Symposium in San Antonio. We appreciate your time, service and dedication to organized veterinary medicine.

Very glad we have such a great organization that works so hard on behalf of veterinarians and animal owners in Texas!
