Dr. James and the entire team are proud to welcome Dr. Cody Kotara to the Blanco Crossing Veterinary Hospital family. Over the past 12 years, Dr. Kotara has been a valued member of our staff in many roles, and we are thrilled he is now joining us as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
For those who have not yet had the opportunity to meet him, Dr. Kotara is a lifelong San Antonio resident who is excited to begin his veterinary career serving the community he calls home. From an early age, he knew he wanted to become a veterinarian—a passion that has shaped his educational journey and guided his career every step of the way.
Dr. Kotara graduated from Winston Churchill High School before
continuing his studies at the University of the Incarnate Word, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then pursued his dream at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, where he completed four years of rigorous academic and clinical training and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in May 2026.
Dr. Kotara has a golden retriever named Annie. He enjoys fishing at the coast or hanging out at his family’s farm close to San Antonio in his spare time.
Throughout his journey, Dr. Kotara has remained deeply committed to animal health and welfare, with particular interests in small animal medicine, preventive care, and client education. Known for his compassionate approach and dedication to building strong relationships with pet owners, he looks forward to giving back to the San Antonio community by providing thoughtful, high-quality veterinary care.
