Anhidrosis in Horses

Anhidrosis is a condition in which a horse is unable to sweat normally or stops sweating altogether. Because horses rely on sweating as their primary method of cooling themselves, this condition can lead to overheating, heat intolerance, poor performance, increased respiratory rate, prolonged recovery after exercise, and, in severe cases, heat stress or heat stroke.

Common signs of anhidrosis include:

Little to no sweating, even during exercise or hot weather

Rapid breathing or panting

Elevated body temperature

Lethargy and decreased performance

Dry hair coat or flaky skin

Reluctance to exercise in warm weather

Itching, rubbing

Good news!!!! My machine will be back by end of week when I get home from vacation and I’m released to work on horses. So I will be back to work Jun 15th.
