Thanks to the farriers who have the energy to manage a social media education platform 🫡💜

If you ever wonder why your farrier doesn't have social media....

Sure, it would be nice to see photos of their case studies, hear their thoughts, and maybe think they're somehow better at their job because of the number of their followers.

Your farrier has told me why they aren't doing it though. Because of the cost.

The cost of your mental health because of the online bullies.
The cost of your time when you'd rather be working or relaxing.
The cost of random strangers tearing apart your work and making you question yourself.
The cost of compassion fatigue in person with your clients because you've been fighting strangers online.
The cost of your honesty because no one wants to hear the truth on social media.
The cost of conflicting opinions that confuse the average horse owner.

Humans aren't built for that.

I happen to be a writer and enjoy teaching. Not all farriers are like that.
And I can't tell you how many have reached out to me and said they could never handle the cost of social media.

Just because they can't doesn't mean they're not good at their job. My apprentice has more horses on her schedule than I do, all through word of mouth, and she's excellent.
We have many good hoof care providers in Washington and most of them do not have an online presence. And if they do, they're not posting case studies or pictures of their work very often.

I'm just the idiot who continues on sharing 🤣

Fantastic clinic experience this weekend with The Equine Documentalist. Looking forward to reviewing my notes as I digest the incredible amount of knowledge shared, and seeing horses in my clientele benefit from a deeper understanding of the rehabilitative process. “Will they be able to stay on for a full cycle?” “Will the glue ruin my horse’s hoof wall?” “Will the bottom of the hoof be thrushy and gross?”

5 acre horse farm conveniently located 20 min from downtown San Antonio. 2 barns with 8 stalls, one is foaling/layup size 12x15. Hay shed, tractor cover, large paddock shelters. 60’ Round pen and 60x160 arena with solar lights will keep you riding year round. Horse safe fencing with perimeter no climb wire on posts and top rail, reinforced with electric fencing on paddocks and interior 3 board fence. Freshly painted! Double wash rack is shaded, tack room is climate controlled. 20x15 Feed shed with roll up and walk thru door; has a wash sink for easy feed soaking. Tool shed is spacious with work bench and a loft perfect for horse blanket storage. Barn stalls have fans and mats over a limestone base and sand for comfort and easy maintenance. Paddocks and barnyard have limestone base. Water is run out to individual paddocks and barn so you’ll never have to drag a heavy hose again! Well pump is new 2022, with a 2000 gallon storage tank. Sandy footing is great for rehab horses. This is a working boarding/training facility in a high demand area. The entire property has been lovingly planned for convenience and efficiency.

Everything you need to maintain the property is made easy with an LS 4046 tractor with cab (must have in sand and summer!) front loader, box blade, hay spear, 6’ shredder, arena drag harrow—negotiable with offer!

Well, I survived ✨typhus✨ and I’m slowly back at it this week! Appreciate the support and understanding from all of my clients, and the patience my family has had—living with me indoors full time is like having a feral cat in the house 🤣 doctors told me 6 months for full recovery but I figure halfway listening is better than ignoring them completely, right?

My recovery has kicked off some changes though: I’ll only be scheduling early morning hours for some time, have tightened my travel radius, and cannot take on anything squirrelly. New clients and routes will be on hold for at least a few months as I focus on taking care of my existing clients. I’ve also adjusted my rates accordingly for my skill level, continuing education, and experience.

First set of shoes for this mare for a Memorial Day weekend camping trip in the Hill Country! Love having the quick versatility of Easycare Versas even for horses who are sound barefoot, just to make sure they have the best comfort even when out rock climbing for 3 days! ⛰🐎🌟

It can be a tough road to make progress on compromised hooves, but it’s so rewarding to see the results. I appreciate my clients who have the patience and commitment to the process with all its ups and downs. Sometimes we have to look back at where we started to appreciate how far we’ve come!
