Hello everyone! Happy Friday 🎉

Yesterday we shared a photo and asked for your thoughts on what it was ….

Believe it or not, the photo shows a bladder stone that was surgically removed from one of our patients! 😲

Bladder stones are hard, rock-like mineral deposits that form inside the urinary bladder. While they’re more common in dogs, cats can develop them too!

These stones form when excess minerals in a pet’s urine crystallize. Over time, those crystals can irritate the bladder lining, causing mucus to form. The crystals and mucus then bind together, creating a stone like the one you see in the photo.

Some common factors that can contribute to bladder stone formation include:
💧 Dehydration
🦠 Urinary tract infections
🥣 Unbalanced diets
⚖️ Abnormal urine pH levels

Bladder stones can cause discomfort, difficulty urinating, blood in the urine, and in some cases can even become a medical emergency if they cause a blockage.

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that cause the biggest problems!

Meet sweet 2-year-old Tortie, Raven. 🧡🐾 She came to see us two days ago after experiencing sneezing, drooling, and what seemed to be difficulty breathing. Raven was diagnosed with a cleft palate when she was younger, so her symptoms were understandably concerning.

After a thorough examination, Dr. Currie and Clara discovered the surprising culprit—a blade of grass lodged in her nasal passage! 🌾 With gentle care, Dr. Currie was able to remove it with ease, and little miss Raven was feeling much better in no time.

When Raven was reunited with her mom, she couldn’t believe that a tiny blade of grass had been causing all of those symptoms! We’re so happy this sweet girl is feeling like herself again. ❤️

Effective August 3, Mexico will require New World screwworm inspection documents for pet dogs and pet birds coming in from the U.S. Here's what veterinary teams need to know to advise clients about travel between the U.S. and Mexico.

All pets who have been examined by a veterinary professional for this specific travel must enter either the U.S. or Mexico within 5 days of receiving the paperwork.
At this point in time this does not apply to cats.

To better serve our clients and continue providing the highest quality veterinary care, Los Caballos Veterinary Clinic will no longer offer charge accounts.

Payment is due at the time services are rendered for:
• All in-clinic appointments
• Medications
• Products and supplies
• Any other services provided in the clinic

Exceptions may be made for Large Animal and Farm Calls, where payment arrangements may differ.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we implement this policy. This change allows us to continue focusing on providing exceptional care for your animals while keeping our operations running efficiently.

✨ Meet Sadie Jae! 🐾❤️

Sweet Sadie Jae came to us a little over a week ago as an emergency after an accident involving her back leg. After Dr. Davidson and our veterinary team performed X-rays, we discovered that her leg was broken.

That same day, our team carefully placed a splint to help stabilize the injury. At her recheck appointment, follow-up X-rays showed that her leg wasn’t healing as well as we had hoped. The good news is that Sadie Jae is now scheduled for surgical repair with one of the trusted orthopedic surgeons we work with.

She has been such a brave little girl throughout this journey, and we’re looking forward to helping her get back on all four paws. 🩺💕

We’ll be sharing updates on Sadie Jae’s recovery over the coming weeks, so be sure to follow along and cheer her on!

🎉 Wishing Ethan the Best on His Next Adventure! 🎉

After a little over a year with the Los Caballos Veterinary Clinic family, it’s time for us to wish Ethan farewell as he begins an exciting new chapter—Veterinary School! 🩺🐾

Ethan has been an incredible part of our team, always bringing a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and compassionate care to every patient and client he met. We are so grateful for everything he’s done during his time with us, and our clinic has truly been better because of him.

While we’re sad to see him go, we couldn’t be more excited to watch him chase his dream of becoming a veterinarian. We know he’s going to do amazing things, and we’re so proud to have been a small part of his journey.
