BSS Members, we have a small confession to make. The printing process took a little longer than expected with the latest issue of our member magazine. Frankly, once they saw those pages overflowing with irresistible puppy photos, they just couldn’t bring themselves to put the book down and box it up! (Can you really blame them? 😍)

But don’t worry—the magazines have officially been unleashed and are on their way to you right now! Expect copies to start landing in mailboxes this week. 📬❤️

Thank you so much for your patience, and we promise it’s worth the wait! 🐶✨

Not to be mistaken for the handsome “Fieldie” or the Eeyore-eyed Sussex, South Carolina’s “little brown dog” is a force in the field all its own.

In the early 1900s, a banker named Alec White took in a little brown stray who had followed him to church. Noticing his knack for retrieving, White sent the dog, Dumpy, to a hunter named Whit Boykin, and so the foundation dog of the Boykin Spaniel was born. Bred to fit in the small boats that wound through South Carolina’s swamps, the Boykin was the state’s best-kept secret for decades. Now the official state dog, they’re still adept hunters and just as happy to play the part of beloved and merry family companion.
