This week we are in Springfield, Mo for North America Diving Dogs Nationals

People sometimes ask why we spend so much time helping everyone else at Nationals rather than jumping our own dogs.

The truth is, we come here for our people.

These are our friends, our students, the teams we’ve worked with, cheered for, and helped get here. And when it’s their turn to step on that dock, we want to be there. We don’t want to miss their jumps, their big moments, or the chance to help when they need us.

We’ve worked hard to get these teams here, and we aren’t going to leave them hanging on their big day!

And our JUNIORS! 💜 Being a sponsor of the Junior Handlers means so much to us. We want these kids to have the BEST time at Nationals. We want them to feel supported, make memories, build friendships, and know that they have people cheering them on every step of the way.

That’s what this sport is about to us. It’s about the people, the dogs, the friendships, and being there for each other.

Do we love running our own dogs? Absolutely! But there is something pretty special about watching your students out there doing their thing and knowing you got to be part of their journey.

We may not get to jump our own dogs as much as we’d like, but we get to be there for the people who make this sport so special to us. And that means a whole lot.

We love our students. We love our friends. We love our juniors. And we love what we do.

I’ve been wanting to make this post for a while, but honestly, I get emotional even thinking about it.

When we started Wasatch, the goal was simple. We wanted to build a community. A place where dogs could grow, where owners could find fun and meaningful outlets for their dogs, and where people could discover just how incredible life with a dog could be.

I wanted people to fall in love with their dogs the way we have. Not just love them as the pets who share our homes, but in a way that changes your life. The kind of love that pushes you to try new things, explore new places, challenge yourself, and build a bond you never knew was possible.

And now, when I look at the dogs and handlers who have come through our doors, I get to see that happening right in front of me.

People come to us for obedience. They want a dog who listens, walks nicely on a leash, or can simply exist more comfortably in their everyday lives. Then, somewhere along the way, they discover dock diving. Or scent work. Or another sport they never imagined themselves doing. Before long, they’re competing, traveling across the country, making friends, setting goals, and building an entire life around the dog they once just wanted to teach to behave.

And that is what gets me. Every single time.

It’s never just about the sport, the ribbons, the titles, or the distance a dog can jump. It’s about what happens between the dog and the person along the way. It’s watching someone discover a whole new side of their dog. It’s seeing confidence grow, relationships deepen, and people find joy in something they didn’t even know they were missing.

I don’t think I’ll ever have the right words for what it means to be a small part of that.

We get to help people discover a life with their dogs that goes so far beyond what they originally came to us for. We get to watch those dogs become more than anyone ever expected, and we get to watch their people fall more and more in love with them in the process.

That is why we do this.

That is why Wasatch is so much more than training dogs.

And I hope we never lose sight of how incredibly special that is. ❤️

Due to the impending hurricane, forecasted strong winds, and heavy rain, we’ve made the decision to move our upcoming DDT Trial to a new location to ensure the safety of our dogs, handlers, and volunteers.

This weekend was full of amazing people and amazing firsts!!! One highlight was Presley going off the dock and earning her dock diving title!!! Presley is the first ever Deerhound to jump with North America Diving Dogs !! Pretty amazing accomplishment
