My goal as a business owner is to not only do the best job that I can for people; but to make all my customers feel important by making each visit to me personal. It's a new year! 2022 went by all too quickly. we were blessed with so many new customers. We enjoyed welcoming new families to the valley and look forward to getting to know them and their pets! Julian (my son) is headed into his second year of being a full time bather. He now has his own clients and workdays. we will be starting intro to grooming with him this summer. He loves this business as much as I do and I'm so thankful he can take some of that labor off of me . So please if you come in while he's working make sure to tell him great job!

So what's new for 2023?! Actually not a whole lot is changing. But i would like to remind everyone of my policies going into the new year.
This is a family business and I am by appointment only. So please be respectful of my time. If you need to show up any earlier than 15 minutes before your appointment please talk to me about it. My space is limited so I need customers to drop off/pick up as close to their apt times as possible. If you are late for your appointment, 10 minutes is all I can give you before requiring you to reschedule. I do not think it is fair to make my other customers after you late just because you were. I need you to pick up your pet within 30 min of them being done. Again my space is limited. we are planning on taking appointments Mon/tue, thur-sat. through the school year (sep-may) bath dogs will be on Fridays/Saturday. groom dogs will be scheduled Mon/tue/thur and Friday as needed.
All missed appointments or cancelations within 24 hrs will result in a fee of 50% of your groom cost added to your account. That fee needs to be paid at the next appointment. All new customers who miss that first appointment that fee will need to be paid BEFORE I will book you again.
I am going into my 20th year of grooming. As much as I love this business it is taking its toll on my body. The last few years have made me realize that if I want to continue, then I need to make some adjustments in order to stay healthy. I am not accepting any new large dog clients for haircuts. And depending on my physical health I may need to recommend another groomer for my current ones at one point. Large dogs to me are anything I can't pick up comfortably. If I can't accept your pet don't worry! We have a few other wonderful groomers in our area that I can recommend.
I will continue to update you on any changes we have.

Well that's it! I'm looking forward to an amazing year with you all. I hope 2023 finds everyone healthy, happy, and feeling loved.

History of the Golden Retriever:

The Golden Retriever was developed in the mid-19th century in the Scottish Highlands by Sir Dudley Marjoribanks (later known as Lord Tweedmouth) to create the ultimate hunting dog.

The Origin at Guisachan EstateThe Founders: In 1868, Marjoribanks mated a yellow Wavy-Coated Retriever named Nous with a Tweed Water Spaniel named Belle (a now-extinct breed known for swimming). The

First Litter: The famous 1868 litter produced Cowslip, Crocus, and Primrose, which formed the foundation of the breed.Refining the Breed: Marjoribanks carefully added infusions of Irish Setter, Bloodhound, and further retriever lines over the years to improve tracking, endurance, and scenting ability.

Recognition and PopularityOfficial Recognition: The Kennel Club in England first recognized the breed in 1913 as "Yellow or Golden" Flatcoat, before officially renaming it to Golden Retriever in 1920.

American Recognition: The American Kennel Club (AKC) officially registered the breed in 1925.

Transition to Family Pet: While initially bred for rough terrain and waterfowl retrieving, their eager-to-please temperament helped them transition into beloved family companions, service dogs, and therapy animals worldwide.

This is Julian's last weekend with us! He grooms through Monday then is off to his next step in life! We are so proud of this young man. He'll be back for the holidays to groom. But until then he'll be enjoying life at Boise State. Good Luck J! I've been so blessed to be your mom. ❤️❤️

History of the American Cocker Spaniel:

The American Cocker Spaniel traces its roots back to English land spaniels named for their skill at flushing woodcock. Brought to America, breeders selectively crossed and reduced the dogs to create a smaller pet and hunter. The American Kennel Club officially recognized the distinct American variety as a separate breed from the English Cocker Spaniel in 1946.

Early Origins and ArrivalThe root name: Spaniels date back centuries, with "cocker" coming from the woodcock bird they hunted in the British Isles.Early arrival: Small spaniels arrived early in North America, with legendary claims of a spaniel aboard the Mayflower in 1620.

First registrations: The first Cocker registered in the U.S. was a liver-and-white dog named Captain in 1878 via the American Spaniel Club, formed in 1881.
Divergence from the English TypeFoundation sire: An influential English import named Obo II, born around 1881, served as the foundation sire for the smaller American type.
Physical changes: American breeders preferred a smaller size, shorter muzzles, rounded skulls, and heavier coats compared to the taller, longer-headed English version.
Official split: Following decades of separate breeding, the official breed split was recognized by the AKC in 1946, and later by the UK Kennel Club in 1970.

THE HISTORY of the BORDER COLLIE:

Border Collies originated along the rugged Anglo-Scottish border. Developed by shepherds for over a century, they were bred strictly for intelligence, stamina, and an intense herding instinct to manage sheep over vast, challenging terrain.

Key Milestones in the Breed's History:
Ancient Ancestry: Their roots combine Roman drover dogs and Viking herding spitz-type dogs. The "Father" of the Breed: The modern Border Collie traces back to Old H**p, a tricolor dog born in 1893. Bred by Scottish shepherd Adam Telfer, Old H**p worked silently using an intense, hypnotic stare (known as "eye") to control sheep rather than barking or biting.

Name Origin: The name was officially coined in 1915. "Border" references their home region, and "collie" is thought to come from an old Scottish word meaning "useful".Royal Endorsement: In the early 1860s, Queen Victoria took a strong liking to the breed, which helped elevate its popularity as both a working dog and a companion.

Global Expansion: While initially prized in Great Britain, they were exported globally to sheep farms in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand.Today, the breed is recognized by the American Kennel Club and is universally celebrated for its unmatched problem-solving abilities, high energy, and dominance in dog sports like agility and obedience.
