Humane Society of Wicomico County The Humane Society of Wicomico County is more than a shelter—we are a safe haven and a second chance for animals in need.

The Humane Society of Wicomico County is dedicated to saving the lives of at-risk animals, and matching pets with their furever families while providing premier temporary care and shelter for the animals in our community. Every day, our team works tirelessly to rescue at-risk pets, provide compassionate care, and connect them with loving furever families. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we are able to offer not just food and shelter, but also medical treatment, enrichment, and the love every animal deserves while they wait for their new beginning. Each donation, no matter the size, helps transform lives—from a frightened stray finding comfort for the first time, to a long-overlooked senior dog finally heading to their furever home. We are also working toward building a new facility—one that will provide more space, modern resources, and the tools we need to save even more homeless pets in our community. Together, with your support, we are creating a brighter future for the animals of Wicomico County—one wag, one purr, and one adoption at a time. Amazon Wishlist: https://a.co/915wPHt

🐱 GREAT NEWS FOR OUR COMMUNITY CATS! 🐱

We are thrilled to announce that the Humane Society of Wicomico County has received a $9,675 grant from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore to provide FREE Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) services for outdoor cats in Wicomico County!

A HUGE Thank You to the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for supporting our mission and helping us make a difference for the community cats who need us! Your generosity will help us provide essential services to reduce overpopulation and improve the lives of outdoor cats in our community.

With Forgotten Cats not receiving any TNR grants for Wicomico County, we knew there was still a need for these services in our community. We applied for this grant so we could help fill that gap and assist residents who need affordable access to TNR for the outdoor cats in their neighborhoods.

What does this grant cover? 🐾
✔️ Spay and Neuter surgery
✔️ Rabies vaccination
✔️ Ear tipping to identify cats who have been spayed or neutered

📍 Please note: This program is available to Wicomico County residents for outdoor cats only.

📞 Interested in signing up or want more information? Call the Humane Society of Wicomico County at 410-749-7603!

Together, we can help manage the outdoor cat population humanely and give community cats a healthier future. Thank you again to the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for helping make this possible!

🐾ℹ️ Tidbit Thursday: What To Do If You Find Kittens!

Found a litter of kittens outside? Before you scoop them up, there are a few important things to know! 🐈

🛑 First, check for signs of injury or illness. If the kittens appear injured or critically sick, contact Animal Control for assistance.

🐾 Estimate their age. Knowing how old the kittens are can help you determine what kind of care they need.

🐱 Look for Mom! If the kittens appear healthy, Mom may simply be out looking for food or waiting for people to leave before returning. If you can safely do so, observe from a distance to see if she comes back. Remember, kittens have the best chance of survival when they can stay with their mother until they are weaned!

🍼 If you’re unable to care for the kittens, contact your local animal shelter or rescue for assistance. Willing to foster? Many shelters and rescues can provide the supplies and information you need to help care for them until they’re ready for adoption!

🩵 Knowledge saves lives! Share this post to help others know what to do if they come across a litter of kittens.

🐾 Waggin' Wednesday: Meet Josh! 🐶 A 2 year old, Male, Pit Bull Mix.

We are not Josh-in’ around — this boy’s got a whole lot of heart! 🩵

Josh is the kind of dog who will make you smile the moment you meet him! With his happy grin, gentle manners, and easy-going personality, he’s ready to melt hearts wherever he goes.

Josh came to us as a stray back in February, and surprisingly, no one ever came to claim him. We can’t imagine why, because he’s been nothing but a sweet, well-mannered gentleman since arriving at the shelter!

Weighing just under 50 pounds, Josh is the perfect medium-sized companion. He keeps his kennel tidy, eagerly awaits his daily walks, and happily greets anyone who clips on his leash. He has basic manners and a calm, happy energy that makes him such a joy to be around.

🐶 Dog-friendly? Josh seems to get along well with other dogs!
🐱 Cat-friendly? He doesn’t seem to mind cats!

With his adaptable personality, loving nature, and gentlemanly charm, Josh could be a wonderful addition to a variety of homes. All he needs now is someone to give him the love, security, and happily-ever-after he deserves.

Submit your application today to adopt Josh! Once your application is approved, you will be contacted to schedule a Meet and Greet with him.

🐾 Toe Bean Tuesday: Meet Butterscotch! 😺 A 6 year old, Male, Domestic Short Hair.

Butterscotch came into our care in February of this year. He loves toys, and once you start playing with him and giving him attention, he’s putty in your hands. While he’s not a fan of being picked up, he’s learning to trust and show his sweet personality in his own way.

Butterscotch is looking for a patient, loving furever home that will let him blossom at his own pace and appreciate all the sweetness he has to offer!

Submit your application today to adopt Butterscotch! You can also stop by and meet him at the shelter in person.

🚨🍼 WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! PUPPY MILK REPLACER NEEDED! 🍼🚨

We currently have 7 newborn puppies in our care who depend on bottle feedings to get the nourishment they need to grow big and strong. We are still in urgent need of puppy milk replacer to keep their little bellies full and give them the best possible start in life.

Can you help us feed these precious babies? Every donation makes a difference! 🐾
