Before July 4th gets here, take a minute to check your pet’s microchip information. 🐾🎆

Fireworks, cookouts, guests, travel, and open doors can make this time of year stressful for pets. If your pet gets scared and slips away, a registered microchip can help improve the chances of being reunited. 🐶🐱💙

This month, we recommend:

🐾 Confirming your pet is microchipped
📱 Updating your contact information
🏷️ Checking collar tags
🏡 Making a safe space before fireworks begin
📞 Calling your vet if your pet has severe noise anxiety

National Microchipping Month is the perfect reminder to make sure your pet’s ID is ready before summer celebrations begin. ☀️

Dr. Julian has been busy diving deep into the world of integrative medicine and is excited to bring a new approach to caring for her clients and their pets. 💚🐾

By combining traditional veterinary medicine with integrative therapies such as ozone therapy, nutritional support, herbal therapies, and lifestyle-focused care, our goal is to look beyond symptoms and focus on your pet’s overall wellness and quality of life.

Integrative medicine consultations are now being scheduled! If you’re interested in a more personalized, whole-pet approach to care, Dr. Julian would love to sit down and talk with you.

Hot weather can be dangerous for pets, especially during North Carolina summers. ☀️🐶🐱

Signs your pet may be overheated can include:

🌡️ Heavy panting
💧 Excessive drooling
😰 Weakness or stumbling
👅 Bright red gums
🤢 Vomiting
😴 Acting unusually tired or distressed

If your pet seems overheated, move them to a cooler area right away, offer small amounts of water, and begin cooling them gradually. Use cool — not ice-cold — water on their body, especially around the paws and belly. 💦🐾

Avoid cooling too quickly, as extreme temperature changes can be dangerous. Heat stress can become serious fast, so if you’re worried, call your veterinarian or seek emergency care. 🩺

A little prevention goes a long way: avoid midday walks, check pavement before walks, provide shade and water, and never leave pets in a parked car. 🚗❌

Summer shedding season is real. ☀️🐾

If your pet is leaving fur on the couch, in the car, on your clothes, and somehow in places they’ve never even been, it might be time for a grooming appointment. 🛁✨

Grooming can help pets feel more comfortable during warmer months, especially when shedding, dirt, outdoor smells, and extra summer activity start to add up. 🐶🐱🌿

A fresh bath, de-shedding treatment, nail trim, or summer clean-up can make a big difference for your pet and your home.

Give us a call to get your pet on the grooming calendar. 📅💙

Help us welcome our newest veterinarian to the pack! 🐾

Some of you may recognize her… Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Natalie Walls was once a veterinary assistant here at Lazy 5 Vets. One day, she came in for her shift with exciting news — she had been accepted into veterinary school. While we were sad to see her go, she gave us hope that maybe one day she’d come back.

4 years and a whole veterinary degree later…

Please join us in reintroducing Dr. Natalie Walls, DVM!

Head over to our website to read her full bio.
