Nose Work / Scent Work Class
• Dates: Wednesdays, September 9 – September 30
• Time: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• Location: Understanding Your Dog, 1325 S. Fulton St., Salisbury
• Cost: $115 for 4 weeks

Class Details
• For dogs 10 months and older.
• Great for all dogs that love to use their sense of smell.
• Builds confidence and uses mental stimulation to tire out dogs.
• Dogs search for treats or toys using natural hunting instincts.
Requirements
• Dogs must be up-to-date on all vaccinations.
• Dogs must be comfortable around other dogs and people (no aggression or high stress; private sessions are better if your dog struggles with this).

Many owners of puppies (really all ages) ignore good behavior—like standing calmly next to you, looking at you from accross the room, or resting quietly in their dog bed or crate.
Instead, they only react to bad behavior like biting the feet, ignoring recalls, or chasing cats. Even negative attention, like yelling, rewards these actions because of the attention they are receiving.
Training is about being proactive, not reactive.
This class’s goal is:
• Prevent bad habits before they start.
• Teach good choices to break the cycle.
• Build trust by creating a predictable, safe environment instead of punishing

Instructor: Kerry Caslow Courtemanche, ANWI

Dogs must be UPTD on all vaccinations.
Dogs must not be aggressive or stressed with other dogs or people (private sessions are a better option).

Associate Nose Work Instructor Kerry is currently on her way to be certified through the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW) for K9 nose work training.
She is a trainer with the Salisbury Kennel Club.
