🇺🇸❤️🤍💙 The 4th of July is one of the busiest—and often one of the most stressful—holidays for our pets. A little preparation can go a long way in helping them stay safe and comfortable during all the festivities.
Here are a few safety tips to help your furry family members have a happy holiday:
🐾 Keep pets indoors during fireworks. Close the curtains, turn on the TV or calming music, and create a quiet, secure space where they feel safe.
🐾 Double-check their ID tags and microchip information. The 4th of July is one of the busiest times of the year for lost pets.
🐾 Leave your pets at home if you’re attending fireworks or other loud events. Even well-behaved dogs can become frightened by the unexpected noises.
🐾 Keep picnic and barbecue foods out of reach. Foods like chocolate, onions, grapes, corn cobs, alcohol, and anything containing xylitol can be dangerous for pets.
🐾 Keep fireworks and sparklers away from curious noses and paws. They can cause burns and contain harmful chemicals.
🐾 Exercise your dog before the festivities begin. A good walk or play session can help burn off energy and encourage relaxation later in the evening.
🐾 Watch for signs of stress or anxiety, such as pacing, panting, trembling, hiding, or trying to escape. Offer reassurance and a calm place to rest.
