Tis a season of change at the farm. The air is cooler and horses are frisky enjoying the fall weather 🍁🍂
Easterns was a hard week. Both Gunner and Maverick could not run in the Futurity and Derby classes due to injuries. Even with multiple ultrasounds, a well thought out rehab program, and Maverick telling us he was ready to go back to work, he reinjured himself in the first stage of the Derby. It was heartbreaking.
Specializing in training young horses and Mounted Shooting, the CMSA Futurity is viewed as the biggest show of the year and of a young horse's career in the sport. We had big expectations for both horses and to not be able to show, well that takes the wind out of your sails pretty good.
Our quiet social media pages over the past couple weeks were a time to reflect and remember that the most important part of it all is our love for young horses and the joy of bringing them along. We are so proud of Gunner and Maverick and all they accomplished this year. We are thankful for wonderful owners who put the horse first.
Beautiful weather at the farm, trail rides, and enjoying the group of new faces that arrived for fall/winter training can't but put a smile on your face. Shows will come and go and yes, they are important, but don't forget that all we do is for the love of the horse. Next time you are stressed, take a moment to look around and see the beauty. The Lord always has a plan and while we may not understand it at times, he has our best interest at heart.
Enjoy the ride,
Jared and Cara
