Howdy! We have a big, and famously loud, summer holiday approaching quickly!

Right now (not July 3rd, please ^_^ ) is a great time to contact your veterinarian regarding medical management of your pet’s noise phobia and/or social anxiety relating to gatherings and parties.

Please call the clinic for a consultation if your pet is anxious about fireworks. We have a variety of medical options to create an appropriate plan for you and your pet. It is helpful to us if you can provide information on medications that worked, or didn’t work, for your pet in the past. Your pet must be current on their annual exam for Dr. Hanifen to provide a prescription. We cannot guarantee we would have enough time to fill a prescription for you if you call on or after July 2nd.

The clinic will be closing at noon, July 3rd for our staff appreciation lunch. We will reopen with regular hours on Monday, July 6th at 9:00am.

Have a safe, happy, and meaningful holiday, everyone! Feel free to drop an adorable picture of your pet(s) in the comments (we love seeing their adorable faces always!!) —Assistant Emily

We have another *very* special kitty looking for a forever home!

Warren is an adult neutered male cat found as a stray. He has signs consistent with cerebellar hypoplasia (under-developed brain), but is a determined little fellow.

Warren is very affectionate and passionate about food. He leans into hugs and makes wonderful biscuits. This cat loves to be involved in everybody's day-to-day activities. He will try to escape any enclosure he faces and will steal snacks from you. He is an intelligent puzzle-solver!

He will need a family who can provide a safe environment for him. Warren is quite wobbly, and has trouble keeping his body moving on the same track as he intends. He will need an easily-accessible living space and litter box. He must avoid stairs and complex floorplans.

Please call the clinic if you are interested in meeting this lovely boy!

We have a special kitten available for adoption. We welcome you to meet...

Treble! 🎼✨🐈‍⬛

Treble, seen here with her foster uncle Nimbus, has had quite the journey. Tiny baby Treble was born at the clinic in mid-June. She and her two siblings came out slightly... wobbly. We suspect the whole litter was born with the same congenital issue. Their symptoms have been consistent with cerebral hypoplasia (this condition has not been confirmed with imaging).

While her two siblings grew well, weaned fairly easily, and learned about their enthusiastic love of cat food, Treble's weaning progress did not go so smoothly. Eating out of a dish was impossible for her at first. She was definitely hungry, but had trouble picking food up. She struggled similarly with our attempts at bottle-feeding, spoon-feeding, and syringe-feeding. And during the meal times when she could get the food into her mouth, she still struggled to chew and swallow. Her sensitive little tummy (and understandably-picky food preferences) also contributed to the difficulties. Her growth halted, and she began to lose ground. We almost lost her on a few occasions.

She is a persistent tiny beast though! She didn't give up, and neither did we. She eventually learned how food works with LOTS of help!

Her way of experiencing the world hasn't dampened her spirits. Currently she is thriving in her foster home and is providing sufficient kitty-chaos for the whole household. Just like her two spunky siblings, Treble is an adventurous, loving nugget o' fluff. She just takes a little extra time to get to where she is going (figuratively and literally).

Unfortunately we really cannot predict or anticipate what her life will look like long-term. She is about the same size as a kitten half her age. Given her history, we are searching for a very special home that can support her current and future developmental and medical needs. Please call the clinic if you are interested in meeting her!

Howdy, it’s assistant Emily here with a big, verbose update!

{The Too-Long-Didn’t-Read version: We’ll have a new record system starting 8/4, and the clinic will be semi-closed-ish late next week to prepare.}

The clinic is going digital! We are entering the modern era of computerized records. Our “go-live” date is Monday, 8/4/2025. What this means for you all: there is a snazzy pet parent mobile app, called Digitail, which you all are welcome to download and utilize. I have put links for Google Play Store and Apple App Store in the comments section below.

Through this app you can easily access medical and vaccination history of your pets. Electronic reminders will be automated (those sneaky 3-year vaccines will now have a reminder protocol!). Our procedure consent forms and certificates will be digital as well. And as you add new members to your family, you can register them with our clinic from the app.

This app is not required to access care for your pets (and unfortunately, there is no web browser-based portal for pet parents at this time). Feel free to keep operating the good old-fashioned way if that is easier for you!

We appreciate your patience as we navigate this change. The clinic will have limited availability to see patients, answer phone calls and emails, or refill prescriptions on Thursday and Friday afternoons next week so that we can input inventory data. Please leave a phone message if you need anything and we’ll return your call as soon as we can!
