Little Muñeca, my sweet girl, passed away this morning, following a stroke. She never grow bigger than a normal 6-7 month old cat. She was my first cat friend when I moved into the neighborhood in 2019. She lived the first half of her life as an outside, semi-feral kitty but she'd lived inside with me since 2021. She is survived by her brother. Philemon, and niece, Minnie. Fly free, little angel. You were loved and will be greatly missed.

Blondie, the disabled old man of our feral colony, crossed the Rainbow Bridge today following a stroke. He was always shy around people and I'd only touched him once in the past three and a half years. I got to finally pet him as the clock ran ran out. He was buried with the old pillowcase he slept on the Winter of 2021-22. We don't know if he was actually related to any of our other cats, although it is possible he was the brother of the late Nora. He was loved and will be missed.

Another sad day yesterday. Corrie, a three-month-old kitten, the last of Minnie and Salem's litter, and granddaughter of Oscar, Nora and Orangey, unexpectedly passed away. She was a sweet little girl and, although blind, had a lust for life. She was loved and will be missed. This leaves us with only three kittens from Gidget.

So ends a nightmare two days. Yesterday I lost two of my kittens. Rollie was a five-month-old boy who was especially dear to me. He was my friend his entire life and I loved him dearly. His parents were Oscar and Nora, who we both lost before him. He will be dearly missed. Snowball was an adorable little boy who was about two and a half months old. He died of unknown reasons. His mother was the older sister of Rollie, Minnie, so grandparents were Oscar and Nora. Today Rollie's sister and littermate, Rosie, was hit by a car. She was a precious little girl and will be sorely missed. Now the only remaining of all of Oscar and Nora's kittens over the last three years is Minnie (and two of Minnie's littermates, who were given away). I am devastated by these back-to-back losses. I have Minnie's remaining little girl, Corrie, inside because she is ill and I want to watch over her. Poor Minnie is looking for and calling for her kittens...so sad.

Nora, the matriarch of our cat colony crossed the Rainbow Bridge unexpectedly sometime during the early hours of Wednesday of an unknown reason. She was an ornery calico who was just letting me pet her after 2+ years. I don't know how many times she scratched me. She leaves her two kittens, Rollie and Rosie, orphans at four months. Their father, Oscar, passed away a couple months ago. She also leaves behind her two-year-old daughter Minnie. She had bad luck with kittens, losing several to cars or other reasons. I don't know how her two kittens will do without her but they have been eating wet and dry cat food for several weeks, so I will take extra care of them. The plan now is to bring them inside when they reach six months, God willing. I will miss Nora. She was feisty but she was the queen of the neighborhood and it won't be the same without her!

2021 ended up with us losing a total of eight cats. Lost Max in May at 13 1/2 months to a car. Alex disappeared in June a week short of three months, apparently stolen by someone. His littermate Lily died in July at four months of a sudden illness. The old gal of the colony, Orangey, died in August after being hit by a car. September was a nightmare. Sasha, the brother of Alex and Lily, died just short of six months of a rare blood condition. A few days later, lost my dear Lola after a long illness, possibly FIV related. At the end of the month, the neighbor ran over little Lexie, the only surviving kitten of Gidget. She was only two months old. The year ended badly. Nancy, the mother of Gidget and grandmother of Lexie, died in December of a sudden health issue. She was an avid mouser and possibly ate a poisoned mouse. She was a special girl to me. All of these dear animals will be missed and never forgotten.

Really drained emotionally. Two days after losing Sasha to a sudden illness, the colony has lost a sweet girl, Lola, after a long illness. Originally named Swoop for her distinctive tail, I renamed her after she lost almost two inches of it in an accident. I've been close to her since last year when she lost a litter of preemie kittens. This past fall and winter she would often climb into my coat when I sat down outside. The last couple days I'd pick her up and have her on my lap for awhile. Now she is free of suffering and can fly free. I'll never forget Lola. Love you, girl!

This is nearly 6-month-old Sasha (top) playing with his almost 18-month-old sister Minnie recently. He suddenly grew very ill and was rushed to the emergency vet. He died late last night. He was the biggest and last of his litter. His sister Lily died in late July of an allergic reaction and someone walked off with his brother Alex. Things are just not the same in the shrinking colony without them. I will always love you, Sasha.

Orangey, the old lady of the feral colony, was killed by a car sometime after 10 p.m. last night. In the two years I knew her, she never became very tame and did not like to be touched. She especially liked treats of chicken breast or lunch meat. She leaves behind one kitten, Salem, who is now 17 months old. I am sure some of the other cats will miss her, as will I. Fly free, girl.

Liliana, who was called Lily, died unexpectedly during the night. She was only 4 months old. Her throat was swollen and I can only assume she ate a bug or spider, and had an allergic reaction. She was a dear, sweet girl and will be terribly missed. She will be laid to rest near her older sister Patches and older brother Max.

Alex, just shy of 4 months old, has disappeared. I have known him since he was two days old and am heartbroken. Yesterday we had a wonderful day and he slept on my lap for awhile. He was a special boy to me and I hope he turns up.
