Salamanca voters in Wards 1 and 2 will have to head to another polling place for the Primary Election on June 23.

Election Commissioners Kevin Burleson and Cortney Spittler announced the poll site for City of Salamanca Ward 1 and Ward 2 voters has been temporarily relocated for the June 23, 2026 Primary only.

To vote in person for the upcoming Tuesday, June 23, 2026 Primary Election, voters in these two wards should appear at the Riverside Chapel located at 134, Broad St., Salamanca, NY 14779. (This is also the existing poll site for voters in Ward 4.) To enter the poll site, voters may park at the rear entrance on Front Avenue.

“Please remember this change is only in effect for the June Primary Election. We anticipate that voting will return to the usual site for the November General Election,” said the commissioners.

Notice of Public Hearing:

The Common Council of Salamanca, NY has scheduled a public hearing for June 10, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Regular Common Council meeting to be held in the Municipal Building Court Room, 225 Wildwood Avenue, Salamanca, NY. The purpose of the hearing is to obtain citizens’ views and comments relative to the submission of an application to New York State Parks and Recreation New York Places for Learning, Activity, and Youth Socialization (NY PLAYS) grant. This project includes the installation of playground equipment, fitness equipment and splash pad equipment on City owned property.

The City of Salamanca is excited to announce that we will be continuing the Salamanca Farmers Market as a City-led event and relocating it from the West End to Jefferson Park for the 2026 season.

Now operating as the City of Salamanca Vendor & Farmers Market Days, this weekly market will continue supporting local farmers, vendors, and small businesses while creating a welcoming community gathering space in a more centralized location.

📅 Tuesdays | June 1st – October 1st
⏰ 11AM – 5PM

We are now accepting vendors and farmers for the upcoming season.

Vendor Information:
• $25 Member Fee
• $10 per week or $100 for the full season
• Cash or check only

We are currently looking for:

• Handmade Goods & Crafts
• Food & Specialty Vendors
• Local Small Businesses

Robert Smith - Convicted for violently molesting a 3 year old girl.

Robert Smith is a Level 3 (high-risk) Sexually Violent Offender residing in Salamanca, Cattaraugus County. He was convicted in 2003 of Aggravated Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, for physically overpowering and molesting a 3-year-old female victim who was known to him. He was sentenced to only 9 years in state prison.

Thanks to resident feedback from our recent survey, the City of Salamanca will continue the City-Wide Cleanup Program for 2026. Residents told us this program matters, and we listened. 👏

📆Ward 1, 2 & 4 pickup begins June 1
📆Ward 3 & 5 pickup begins June 8
💰Cost is $50 per household

Please make sure debris is not placed at the curb until the allowed date for your ward.

Narcotics Arrest

After an investigation conducted by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force a search warrant for a vehicle was conducted on East State Street in the City.
Karen Fries of Allegany NY was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance 2nd degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree,three counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd degree and obstruction of governmental administration Fries was held for arraignment. Karen Fries was found in possession of more than two ounces of crystal methamphetamine, more than seven grams of fentanyl and more than an ounce of crack co***ne. The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the Salamanca Police Department, Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office and the Olean Police Department. SRDTF was assisted by the Salamanca Police and the CCSO patrol division and K9 Echo.
