I’ve got some of my tomato breeds that are ready for planting! Average last frost date is March 24th…but 14 day forecast looks promising. If you wanna take a wager, like me, and have some row cover handy….and want to get some tomatoes early just in case we have an extremely warm May like last year that shuts down flowering….
Then come out to the “nursery” 😊 or dm or shoot me a text and I can bring some when I go into town

Tomatoes coming along nicely 👍 several are coming out of the top of the 4ft cages!
I have fruit set on 21 of the 24 plants in the ground in the garden. I really think the hand pollination is working. Looking into canning options. Having a little spot and early blight starting but trying to stay ahead of it. 😓 These are my oldest beds with the most times planted in by tomatoes and peppers so not unexpected.
Potted peppers and tomato are looking good.
Corn going nuts.
Okra is starting to produce and I think I found the ants mound in a log…hit em with orange oil so advantage me in the ant war! 😂

Garden Updates:
Container peppers and tomatoes coming along nicely!
In ground tomatoe plants are getting big and unruly 👍 Have fruit set on 4 of them so far! Measurements are on the last pic and a lot of variation still. Some definite monster growth on most but the 3 wimpy plants are still limping along…
Corn is recovered and coming in well and no more deer attacks.
Ants and I still fighting over okra 🙄 and added some beans from a friend.
Onion forest (not pictured) is still growing strong
Looking forward to rain and first tomato to eat 😊

Got the latest set of tomato seedlings fully hardened off and living in the garden. Hopefully be ready to plant in a couple of weeks! This run short on varieties but they are winners: Jubilee and Cherokee Purple.

A little garden update: you can see their older brothers/sisters are growing well and already caged. Took some notes and fascinating to see both intra and inter breed differences in plants with very similar circumstances. All planted 3/28. Cool first couple of weeks but now that warmth is here they are taking off. All looking really healthy for now. First flowers of the spring! I’m ready for tomatoes so ain’t no way I’m pinching them off. 😊
Corn beds are recovering from deer attack. 😬 but reseeded yesterday so 🤞survivors grow out and newbies come on strong. (Motion activated sprinkler is now in place and prevented any further incursions 👍)
Okra and asparagus doing well although fire ants have already found the okra and so my war continues.
Between the onion forest and all the volunteers of onions and garlic (none you see outside that bed were planted this year) we will have plenty!
