Meet Pixel! 🐱 She came to see us because she was urinating outside the litter box.
Finding urine outside the litter box can be frustrating, but it’s often one of the first signs that something isn’t right.
A urinary tract infection (UTI) can cause a cat to suddenly start urinating outside the box. But UTIs aren’t the only possibility. Bladder inflammation, urinary stones, and other urinary problems can cause similar changes.
And sometimes, stress is the culprit.
A new pet, a move, changes in routine, a new person in the home, or even tension between cats can lead to stress-related urinary issues.
The important thing is that you can’t tell the cause just by looking at where your cat peed.
If your cat suddenly stops using the litter box, don’t assume they’re misbehaving. Start with a visit with us to rule out a medical problem.
And if your cat is repeatedly straining to urinate, producing little or no urine, crying in the litter box, or showing signs of distress, give us a call right away. 🚨
Sometimes, that puddle on the floor is your cat’s way of saying, “Something doesn’t feel right.”
