A little extra help can make a BIG difference for an anxious pet. 🐶💙

This sweet boy was nervous about his veterinary visit, so his family gave him gabapentin beforehand to help take the edge off his anxiety. By the time he arrived, he was relaxed enough to hang out at the reception desk and keep the team company. 😂

Medications like gabapentin can be a valuable part of a low-stress veterinary visit. Instead of asking an already anxious pet to simply “push through” the fear, pre-visit medication can help lower their stress level so they’re better able to cope with the experience.

The goal isn’t to knock them out. It’s to help take the fear down a notch so they can have a calmer, more positive visit. And sometimes, that means they’re relaxed enough to apply for a job at the front desk. 🐾

When ‘just a routine sample’ requires three sets of hands and one very unimpressed cat. Frankie did amazing while Dr. Lamarche and the team gathered a urine sample through a method known as a guided cystocentesis. This method is used to gather a more sterile sample and often on cats because they don’t offer up a sample like dogs often will.

Nothing like a little spray cheese to make vaccine day feel like a party. 🧀💉 This sweet spaniel mix handled their shots like a champ, mostly because their foster mom knows the way to a puppy’s heart. Speaking of hearts… we wouldn’t be surprised if this little one has already found their forever home right there on foster mom’s lap. 🥹

We’re so grateful for our partnership with HavaHeart Rescue. Their foster families go above and beyond for these pets, and we love getting to support that work, whether it’s through vaccine visits like this one or showing up for their community events. Rescue work is a team effort, and they make it look easy.

One of the simplest but most important parts of every wellness visit is listening to the heart and lungs. In just a few seconds, this quick check can pick up on things like murmurs, irregular heartbeats, or abnormal lung sounds, sometimes before any other symptoms show up at home. It gives us a valuable window into your pet’s overall health.

Maggie Mae made it easy today with her relaxed, trusting demeanor. Patients like her are why we love what we do! 💙

Annual exams (heart and lungs included) are one of the best tools we have for catching things early and keeping an eye on your pet’s health year after year.

🩺 Team Member Tuesday: Meet Noël!

This week, we’re excited to highlight one of the friendly faces our clients know and love — Noël! 💙🐾

Noël has been part of Spencer Creek Animal Hospital since 2023 as a veterinary assistant, and she brings such a warm, positive energy to the clinic every day. Whether she’s comforting patients, helping teammates, or catching up with clients, she always makes people feel welcome and cared for.

One of Noël’s favorite parts of the job is getting to build relationships with both pets and their people. She especially enjoys seeing appointments and connecting with clients during visits, but she’s always happy to jump in wherever she’s needed — assisting, helping in technician duties, or even covering at reception when needed. She’s truly someone the whole team enjoys working with and can always rely on! 💙

Outside of work, Noël loves spending time with her son, Jace, who keeps her busy and smiling. We’re so lucky to have her as part of the Spencer Creek team — her kindness, flexibility, and heart show in everything she does.
