You Supply the Space – MN SNAP Does the Work!

MN SNAP is searching for a business or organization that shares our love of cats and dogs and can host MN SNAP’s 35-foot fully equipped mobile surgical unit on a recurring basis in the East Twin Cities metro.

We provide low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs belonging to Minnesota qualifying pet owners, rescue organizations, and animal shelters. The mobile unit makes it possible to bring our services to communities across the metro … but we need somewhere to park!

Where are we looking for a partner? Ideally, our new partner would be in Saint Paul, though we will consider other locations within 20 miles north or south of the Twin Cities.

What happens on clinic days? Throughout the day, patients are cared for by MN SNAP’s highly qualified, licensed veterinarian and clinic staff using the most current equipment and techniques. All animals are discharged to their owners or rescues/shelters the same day.

What do we need from you on clinic days?
✅A solid, level place to park the mobile unit
✅A source for water and power
✅A conference-room sized, animal-friendly indoor space adjacent or close to the parking lot
✅Parking space for 30-40 pet owners to drop off and pick up their pets throughout the day
✅And a few other requirements, which we can discuss further if you are interested!

Help the birds!

We're issuing another Lights Out alert for tonight as nearly 29 million birds are estimated to fly over Minnesota tonight. Here are some tips to reduce light pollution during migration season:

• Turning off unnecessary outdoor lights
• Using timers or motion sensors on outdoor lights so they only come on when necessary
• Keep indoor light indoors by closing curtains and shades
• If outdoor lighting is needed, use warm-colored bulbs (2700K or lower) and direct light downward

Thank you for being cognizant of how your home impacts migrating birds, and reducing hazards where you are able.

🚨 Kitten fosters needed 🚨

We are hosting our final Kitten Surrender Event of the year at our Minneapolis location this Friday (8/14)… which means we are needing kitten foster homes 😻

The purpose of our Kitten Surrender Event remains the same... breaking the cycle before it can begin again by spaying and neutering kittens before they get adopted out into their homes.

We know that over 1.5 MILLION kittens enter shelters across the nation every single year... that is over 4,000 kittens PER DAY 🤯 We know that it's hard to manage unexpected litters. We know that access to affordable care is limited and there simply isn't enough resources.

But, we also know that it's even harder to say no to those animals in need.

This is us trying to lower the barriers... because this event is about more than just the kittens being surrendered. It’s about supporting the people caring for them, too.

If you’re surrendering a kitten (or multiple) and still have pets in your home to care for, we will have resources and support for those animals as well! Dog and cat food. Cat litter. Spay/neuter vouchers. Information on local resources.

If you have kittens that need placement, pets at home who aren’t yet spayed or neutered, or maybe you just need support and resources... we’re here to help ❤

Declawing cats is inhumane!

This is a question from a preparatory course for the North American Veterinary License Examination (The exam is administered by the International Council for Veterinary Assessment - Chicago, Illinois). Is the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) position really this horrible?

We're thrilled to share that Purrniture was just featured in Racket, and it's got us reflecting on 35 years of doing things our own way. 🐾

It all started in 1991 with one hand-built cat tower made from scrap wood and carpet — because owner Darryl Michaelson couldn't find anything on the market sturdy enough for his own cat. That "why isn't this better?" moment turned into a lifelong mission: build cat furniture that's genuinely built for cats — durable, comfortable, and made to handle real feline life (climbing, scratching, chonky cats and all).

Every piece at Purrniture is still handcrafted using upcycled, locally-sourced materials, and we still offer trade-ins and refurbishing for old, worn-down furniture. Sustainability and quality have always gone paw-in-paw here.
We're especially excited about what's next: we're currently tripling the size of our University Avenue showroom, and building a brand-new "catio" — a dedicated space where foster cats can play, relax, and hopefully find their forever homes.

Thank you to every customer (and every cat) who has supported us over the past three-plus decades. We can't wait to show you what's coming!

🐾 Meet Purrniture stars Zeus and Zena! 🐾

These feline siblings, Zeus and Zena (both 7 years old) are always on the move!

📸 Zeus proudly took on the role of our main model, showing off his favorite perch and proving that every cat deserves a throne.

📸 Meanwhile, Zena made a memorable appearance in our Castle Royale, with her tail hanging perfectly down the center. Even better? She loves diving through the Royale's tube opening and popping out unexpectedly—providing endless entertainment for anyone lucky enough to watch!

While our other three cats slept through the excitement (typical cat behavior 😹), Zeus and Zena reminded us exactly why we design furniture cats love to climb, lounge, explore, and play on.
