MN Pocket Pet Rescue MNPPR is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 2014 committed to the rescue & adoption of Pocket Pets.

OUR MISSION
MN Pocket Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization primarily serving the Twin Cities Metro Area, focusing on education and public outreach. Our intent is to keep all animals in their homes, with their families, whenever possible. We are committed to rescuing those pocket pets that are in jeopardy of being euthanized or are in danger of being abused, left unattended, or in other types of vulnerable situations. We ensure all animals receive proper veterinary care, medication, and special training for any behavioral issues, as well as to arrange safe, temporary homes for these animals until stable forever homes can be found. Our team is made up of enthusiastic volunteers who work passionately to serve the underrepresented and often misunderstood niche of pocket pets in the overall rescue community and the general public.

MN Pocket Pet Rescue will be one of the many fun organizations participating in this year's Twin Cities PRIDE annual Halloween Trunk-or-Treat event. This is a fun and safe way for families to enjoy Halloween together.

We will have a decorated vehicle, and our volunteers will be handing out delicious treats, fun flyers, and free Halloween coloring pages, too!

Stop by our "Spooky Haunted Trunk" to meet some of our Ambassador Animals! Some of these pocket pets may even be wearing their own Halloween costumes - this is a great opportunity for photos!

We are sad to share about the unexpected passing of one of our Guinea Pig animal ambassadors: Tank. 💔 Tank was so sweet and gentle, and loved being held, pet, and given treats.

Tank was an Animal Ambassador for MNPPR for 4 years - he was found outside, so owner Katie doesn’t know his exact age but she estimates he was about 7 years old when he crossed the Bridge. During his time on the team, he participated in over a dozen events with MNPPR, including public events providing Guinea Pig Pignic encounters, private AHS Camp events, and some private Vet Teaching Program events.

Party on, Wayne. Party on Garth... 🤘

Well, if you consider marathon naps partying, these two would certainly be pros!

Wayne and Garth are brothers that love their treats, free time and soft blankets. They are currently in Trust Training for being shy, but their foster sees them making great progress!

Watch for more information about Wayne and Garth, along with other available pocket pets on our website: https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/available-rats

Important RDHV2 Update For Rabbit Owners ⚠️

The Minnesota Board of Animal Health announced last week that Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus 2 (RDHV2) has been confirmed as a cause of fatalities in two rabbit colonies in northern Minnesota. These are the first confirmed cases of RHDV2 in the state since 2022. RHDV2 is highly contagious and can be spread directly through contact with infected rabbits, as well as via vectors such as flies, humans, car tires, hay/feed, and vegetables.

RHDV2 is preventable via vaccination. Visit a pocket pet savvy vet for more information on how to get your rabbit vaccinated against the RDHV2 virus. Twin Cities Area Pocket Pet Vets ➡️ https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/vets
