Hello Everyone!! Looking forward to seeing you all on our first training day on the 18th of April, at West Side Training Grounds on Sauvie Island at 9:00am. We will have a lunch you can buy for $10. It will be a hot dog, chips, cookie and Soda.

If your a member it's $15 for your first dog and $10 for each additional dog.

If your a non-member it's $25 for your first dog and $10 dollars for each additional dog.

If you join the club (not renew) you can run your dogs after paying your membership dues, just for joining!!!

I'm VERY excited to announce that Wayne Van Egdom has donated a gently used small Zinger Winger that we will had out everyone who attends one of our training events a ticket into the entry to win it at our last training day!!! (It's been totally reworked and is ready for you to use, like brand new)

We are sorry but to error on the side of safety we are canceling our training day July 19th. High heat and no water is not a good combination!

Our next training day is right around the corner and its going to be a BIG one. We are partnering with our club to the north Newaukum River Retriever Club. The two clubs will be providing a hot dog lunch with a beverage!! This is hopefully the first of many more joint ventures between the clubs!!!

There will be several licensed judges the grounds to provide feedback if you would like it.

The weather for this weekend is going to be HOT!!! Please remember to bring lots of water for you and your dogs. Shade cloths for your cars and kennels if you have them. Fans if you have them. Sunscreen/hat and more water!! Did we mention water?? Some form of bug repellant might be a good idea too.

We are asking that you respond to this post letting us know if you are coming so we make sure we have enough for everyone to eat and enough stakes setup!!

This is a training event remember that. It may be setup like a test but it is not, appropriate training equipment will be allowed while running

Time: Setup 0730 - Hope to start running dogs 0830

Members:
First dog $10
Other dogs $5 (each)

Non-Members:
First dog $15
Other dogs $10 (each)

Rules:

1. Everyone will help! Everyone capable will be asked to throw a bucket of birds. If you are unable to set wingers we have other jobs that will greatly help us. Everyone at this event is a volunteer and they all have dogs that they would like to train too. It is not fair to expect them not to.

2. There is a strict 10 mph while on the property. There will be duck pens and several out buildings, when passing these, please be on the look out for workers and slow down a little bit more.

3. You WILL pick up after your dog. The owner of this property is very supportive of our sport and is allowing us to use the property. Please show him that trusting us and allowing us to use his property was not misplaced.

4. There will be no dogs that are not running/honoring at the line. This is a safety issue, just like at a hunt test. It is truly for the safety of the dogs.

Training day is the 24th at 0900, at St Louis ponds. Please be on time and remember that everyone is expected to take a turn in the winger for a bucket of 4 birds.

We will setup a 4 spoke wagon wheel, so you can work on some skills. Don't know what a wagon wheel is??? We will be more than happy to show you!!

We have another training day coming up and it will be Memorial day weekend we are asking those that are interested to please RSVP so we can see if the want for the training day is there.

Tomorrow is another training day on the Westside of Sauvie Island. We will again have a skill's area so you can work on or learn a skill. Start time is 0830.

We will also have 3 marks with ducks and 2 blinds with bumpers. To help ensure we have enough help we are making a rule of everyone must operate a winger for a minimum of 4 birds. We will fill buckets and send them to the wingers with enough birds, that way when people are done with their turn they can bring empty buckets in and we can send replacements out. This will hopefully help ensure that everyone gets a chance to run their dogs and practice. Don't worry if you have never operated a winger will show you how, they are very simple to use. Dependent on available good water we will setup a training series for the afternoon.

Please bring a folding chair, a duck call (this is how you will signal to start, just like in a hunt test) enough water for you and your dogs and some lunch.

Last training day we had a great turnout, lets see if we can beat it this training day!!!!

The fee for the training day is Members first dog $10 and each additional dog is $5, Non-members first dog is $15 and each additional dog is $10.

With our hunt test coming up, we are looking for items that you would like to donate for our raffle. Please reach out to any of the board members, and as always we appreciate all of your support to help our club.

We are very excited that our fist training day of the season will be this Saturday 04/19/2025 at 0830 on the westside of Sauvie Island!!! Like always we want you to think of this as a TRAINING day, use the equipment you use during training, build the bond with your dog become a team. Take your time and work with your dog so both of you are successful!!! We will be using a mixture of ducks and bumpers, wingers and blinds.

If your at a point where you want to see what a real test is like let us know we will have licensed judges present and we can provide that feedback.

We like to attempt to do a land setup and a water setup but that will be all dependent on the area that is available.

We will have membership forms available on site for you to join if you wish. A single membership is $30 a year and a family Membership is $35.

The fee for the training day is Members first dog $10 and each additional dog is $5, Non-members first dog is $15 and each additional dog is $10.

As a reminder bring water for you and your dog, lunch for you and your dog. Rain gear and muck boots and a chair. Don't forget your whistle and duck call.

Everyone at these events are volunteering their time to make these the best training days possible. If you would like to volunteer let us know we would greatly welcome the help.
