One subfertile bull can cost you an entire calf crop. Before breeding season starts, make sure your bulls are ready to perform.

A Bull Breeding Soundness Exam is one of the best forms of insurance a cattleman can buy. For the cost of an exam, you can catch fertility problems early, avoid open cows, and protect the value of your breeding season.

These photos show Dr. Center performing fertility exams and a rare double-headed s***m cell found during evaluation. Not every bull problem can be seen from the outside — that’s why testing matters.

Don’t wait until preg-check time to find out a bull came up short. Schedule your bull fertility exams now with Dixie Vet Clinic and head into breeding season with confidence.

Call today to get on the schedule.

🌟 Foal Care Spotlight 🌟

This little foal is receiving IV fluids due to Failure of Passive Transfer (FPT)—when a newborn doesn’t get enough antibodies from colostrum. FPT can leave foals vulnerable to infection, so early detection and treatment are critical.

💡 Tip for owners: Test your foal’s antibody levels within the first 12–24 hours after birth—it can make all the difference.

Have questions about FPT or newborn care? Ask below or DM us!

🌅🐣 Easter Morning Miracle 🐴✨

There’s nothing quite like the gift of new life—and this Easter morning, we were blessed to welcome a beautiful, healthy filly into the world!

Momma did an incredible job, and both mare and baby are doing great. These moments never get old—watching a foal take its first breaths, struggle to its feet, and find its way to nurse is something special every single time.

💡 A little foaling insight:
Foaling is a fast and critical process. Once active labor begins, most mares will deliver within 20–30 minutes. It’s important to monitor closely—early signs like restlessness, sweating, and lying down/getting up frequently can signal that foaling is near. After birth, we look for key milestones:
• Foal standing within 1 hour
• Nursing within 2 hours
• Passing meconium (first manure) within a few hours

Good preparation and careful observation make all the difference in ensuring a safe delivery for both mare and foal.

Today we celebrate more than just a new foal—we celebrate the hope and new life we have through Christ. Wishing everyone a blessed and joyful Easter.

✝️🌷 Happy Easter from all of us! 🌷✝️

🧬 This is what the future of your mare’s genetics looks like.

Dixie Veterinary Clinic is now booking mares for TVA (Transvaginal Oocyte Aspiration) and ICSI embryo production.

Through TVA, we collect eggs from your mare, which are then fertilized using ICSI to create embryos—like the one shown here.

This technology allows you to produce embryos from:

• Performance mares still in competition
• Older mares that cannot carry a pregnancy
• Mares with uterine challenges
• Limited or frozen semen

📅 Next aspiration dates: March 30–31
👨‍⚕️ Performed with Dr. Jacobo Rodriguez
⚠️ Limited spots available

Call Dixie Veterinary Clinic to reserve your mare or to discuss if she is a candidate.
