Everyone has their own ways of doing barn chores — here’s a little behind-the-scenes of how we do ours! 🐴✨

Chores are SO much easier with attached runs, stable comfort orthopedic floors, and no shavings. We also love using Hay Pillows, Horse Hydrator water filters, Apple a Day electrolyte mix, and Glowyn pink Himalayan salt licks — all just signs of love for our horses and their health and wellness. ❤️

I almost bought my dream horse a while back — this beautiful fairytale Percheron/Friesian cross that looked like a bigger version of my Licorice. He needed a lot of rehab work, but I was totally smitten.

Thankfully, God stepped in and clearly said “stay away.” Not because the horse was bad, but because the people selling him were. Even though my heart was broken, I listened and walked away.

And in the meantime? God has blessed me with three of the absolute best horses. ❤️

Last night a client brought in a horse of the exact same breed and I finally got to see and be around one in person. It was so cool! He really was like a king-sized Licorice. 🐴

Also, random little joy: after everyone leaves, I let my boys “clean up” — they get to pick through whatever’s left in the wheelbarrow and the little pieces they missed. They absolutely love it! 😂

❤️ The boys had a really great day yesterday being separated! It let me monitor exactly how much each one was eating, and I felt so much better seeing Caspian actually eating his food well. He seems happier and brighter this morning too.

The nice cool breeze was the perfect excuse for a roundpen session with Artax and Licorice!
Artax was full of energy and just wanted to trot... and trot... and trot some more (with nice direction changes). I noticed his left hind was a bit tight, so we worked through that. We transitioned between trot and canter, and I let him choose when to drop down. He looks so beautiful when he trots! When he finally had enough, he stopped, turned to me, and walked right up. Lots of great sinus drainage and lip licking. He followed me happily out of the roundpen.

Then there’s my little Licorice — my eater, not a worker 😂 He completely surprised me! Instead of his usual “do I have to?” attitude, he took off like a rocket: run, buck, run, buck, buck... I wanted him to start slow to get the joints moving, but he said “Here we go!”

He was breathing hard (you can hear his little asthma in the video) but refused to stop. Normally I’m chasing him with the lunge whip to keep him going — not today! Every time I tried to get him to just walk, he’d pick up the trot again. I finally had to halter him and walk him around the property to help him cool down.

Caspian doesn’t really do the roundpen thing. If you chase him he just does his own thing, but he’s always walking and playing with Licorice, so I’m not worried about his fitness. The only time he’ll really move in the roundpen is if I tie him to Licorice... but then he just bites Lic and tells him not to listen 😂

Artax and Licorice roundpen beautifully together though!
The boys are now in their stalls enjoying their nummy supplements and will be back out mingling soon.

Please ignore Haven with her barky-barks. Lic wasn't running in response to that - he's not reactive to her at all 😊

🐴 Big Update for Utah Horse Owners & Travelers!

Hey Utah Equestrian Community!

I’ve just finished compiling the FULL Boarding section for the entire state of Utah on the Utah Horse Directory! Everything is now beautifully organized and linked for easy access.

Here’s how it’s broken down:
📍 Regions:
Northern Utah – North of Spanish Fork
Middle Utah – Spanish Fork to Beaver
Southern Utah – South of Beaver & Moab
Because Northern Utah has so many options, it’s further divided into thirds:
• North of Bountiful
• Draper to Bountiful
• Spanish Fork to Point of the Mountain

Each listing is organized by length of stay (Overnight/Layover, Short-Term, Long-Term), then by region, city, and business name (alphabetically). Every entry includes:
Facility description
Social media links
Google Map link
Phone number
Notation if they offer on-site Airbnb/VRBO stays
Direct booking links when available
This should make finding overnight stabling, short-term, or long-term boarding so much easier across Utah!

👉 Check it out here:
utahhorsedirectory.com/boarding

Please take a look and help me make sure it’s accurate! If you know of any boarding facilities I missed, or if any info needs updating (closed, changed ownership, new services, etc.), comment below or message me. I want this to be the most complete resource possible for our community.

Thank you all so much! ❤️

Find the perfect boarding facility for your needs! All of Utah - overnight, short-term and long-term! Everything directly connected for easy access!

🚨 Price Reduced! Rare Equestrian Opportunity in St. George, UT – $849,900

I need your help getting the word out! We just lowered the price on our one-of-a-kind equestrian property, and it’s perfect for anyone in (or wanting to get into) the horse industry.

This facility was custom-designed and refined over five years to be an exceptional overnight boarding and care center. The barn features premium orthopedic flooring, full climate control (swamp cooler, fans, misters — the only one like this in the area!), and every amenity you could want for top-tier horse care and comfort. It’s truly set up for healing, recovery, and hospitality.

Imagine living on-site with your own horses right in your backyard while offering overnight stays for traveling equestrians. Many repeat clients already trust us, and our new client numbers have doubled each year. It’s a meaningful way to generate extra income, help fellow horse people, and provide peace of mind in a safe, beautiful setting.

Perfect for:
Equine professionals (vets, bodyworkers, farriers, trainers, etc.)
Someone wanting to continue the successful boarding/hospitality model
Or simply a private horse owner who wants the ultimate home barn
The home includes two master suites — one is currently set up as a beautiful guest suite for clients staying with their horses. Everything (fully loaded barn, suite furnishings/amenities, instructional manual, etc.) can be included for the right buyer who wants to step right in and continue what we’ve built.

Location is unbeatable — just 8 minutes to downtown St. George, with easy access to restaurants, shopping, a luxury movie theater, Snow Canyon, Black Desert PGA Golf Course, Tuacahn, and so much more.

Not interested in running the business? That’s totally fine too! Keep it as your private facility and enjoy the climate-controlled barn through our hot summers.

Bonus option: There’s an adjacent parcel available to rent right off the back of the property with 5 additional outdoor stalls (partially covered), large 44x76 turnouts with concrete posts (need the panels but the posts are there), misters, individual water, and sunshades. Fully fenced and ready to go — $1,000/month or $10k for the year.

This property is truly special. If you’ve been dreaming of the perfect setup to live with your horses while building something rewarding in the equestrian world, this is it.

Listed on the MLS with a professional agent. Serious inquiries only — message Cassidy Lance-McWherter to schedule a showing or ask questions!

Please share this post far and wide in your equestrian circles! Thank you so much for helping us find the right next owner. ❤️

The first time I clipped Artax was about a week ago when we hit 90+ degrees and his thick coat just wasn’t shedding out. Welsh ponies are known for shedding later, so it’s normal for his breed. He did great that first time!

Since coming here, he’s gone from a very anxious, worried boy to a much calmer, thinking horse who just wants to keep his buddies close.

Today I decided to do more. I shaved his neck last time and he handled it so well, so we went further. Clipping is honestly such a Zen, therapeutic experience for me — that repetitive, relaxing motion. I love it (minus all the hair making me itch 😂).

I didn’t bathe him first — we went old school. I didn’t want to overwhelm him with both bathing and clipping at once. These $30 clippers I got on Amazon are seriously impressive — great battery life, never got hot, and surprisingly quiet.

He paced a little at the beginning but then just settled in and let me work anywhere on his body. Total sweetheart.

Two things I noticed:
1. My boy has tiny orange dapples all over — thinking he might have some Appy in him? What do you think?

2. I found marks on his hind end that look a lot like old whip scars (first thought was barbed wire, but the more I looked, the more it seemed like whip marks). I never would’ve seen them without clipping him. A TikTok I saw recently talked about clipping to check for skin issues and hidden problems… so glad I did. It might explain some of his face shyness and past reactions.

It’s definitely not a pro job — pretty choppy since he wasn’t bathed first — but he gave me lots of licking and chewing, and did a big full-body shake afterward, so I think he approves! 🐴✂️

🌬️ Days like today remind me just how physical this place really is—and how much love and hard work has gone into getting it to where it is now.

After our last big windstorm, I had to take down all the sunshades. We’d already modified two of them from a previous storm, and my amazing husband came up with even better ideas to reinstall them. The barn looks SO good now—no more bent poles! 😍 Still have the three on the left side to do, but the boys’ side is fully covered and ready for the heat. We also have extra shades from the top lot that we can modify when it really starts cooking.

Ryan also helped me put up a new awning on the front of the barn. The sun beats directly on that side and it was brutal— this awning makes a massive difference once it’s angled right! One bracket kept tearing the fabric before, so our neighbor smartly cut it into an L-shape. Here’s hoping this one lasts longer than a year. It’s a pain to assemble, but $200 beats the permanent options that just wouldn’t work for us.

Looking back on all the planning, the endless frustrations (SO many frustrations 😂), and the work we’ve poured into this place… it honestly makes me hesitate to expand to another property and start all over again. I know this one inside and out—from the layout to every little detail… including my tiny mouse-friend in the supplement room (yes, I named him Mousekewitz 🐭). Don’t worry, I do the Disney relocation program with the live traps… I just haven’t gotten around to moving this one yet. He’s been a perfect gentleman so far, so we’re cool.

I’m physically and mentally wiped out today, but my heart is so full. Massive gratitude to my husband for all his help and brilliant ideas—he’s the best teammate.

Also… I *might* be getting Sam Sam back for the hot months in St. George! Not 100% confirmed yet but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

In the meantime, Artax has been with us for a full month now and I’m completely in love with him. He’s still a little face-shy but he calls out to me every time he sees me and follows me around like a big puppy. My heart melts every single day. ❤️. He stood with his head in the door and kept watching me work

Progress feel so good

Grateful doesn’t even cover it.

🌬️ Wow, that wind last night was no joke!

I made the call to take down all the shades and I’m so glad I did — last big windstorm one got completely ripped out of the barn!

All my client’s horses handled it like champs locked safely inside. She was so grateful I brought the other two in instead of leaving them in the runs (she left the decision up to me). My gut said “this is gonna get bad,” so each horse got their own stall… and they all did phenomenal! Even her big ones (17+ hands) laid down and slept through the howling wind. 🐴💤

I sat out in the barn with everyone during night check and there wasn’t a single problem. Just calm, cozy horses.

But the most amazing thing? Artax. ❤️

He senses when I’m getting ready to head out to them. He’ll call out when it’s feeding time or when I’m in the house. Last night in the crazy wind, I stepped into the laundry room (there’s no way he could’ve heard or seen me) and he immediately stuck his head out of his stall and looked straight toward the house and then called out to me. I was in the dark videoing the wind (there's no way he saw or.heard me, even the lights on my phone were off

Biggest heart horse moment ever?!

🌬️ The wind has been howling hard for the last couple hours and just keeps getting stronger!

I’m so grateful our barn has fully enclosed indoor stalls with doors that close tight. Our horses are cozy on their orthopedic floors, safe from all the blowing dust, debris, and crazy gusts. 🙏

Our clients feel the exact same way — one gave me a big hug tonight just to say how much they love staying here. (They even have an LQ but chose to stay in our suite instead!)

And yes… we do night checks on every horse, whether you’re here or not. We walk through, check water, manure, feed, and temperment to make sure everyone is comfortable and settled for the night. 💕

Barn is full tonight and the cutest thing happened when they arrived — one horse started yawning like crazy the second he got off the trailer. He made me yawn too! 😆 So much mental processing and travel stress releasing. Then he walked right up, put his big nose in my face (we’d never met!), and just kept yawning while asking for head rubs.

Horses are the best. 🐴

Getting ready for my next client tonight — full barn ahead! 🌬️ These high winds had me hearing some serious scratching on top of the carport. Turns out it’s the neighbor’s tree branches doing the rubbing! 😅

No way the horses are listening to that all night at pur peaceful, relaxing place - so it’s tree trimming time!

Working solo and the clippers take two hands? Ratchet strap to the rescue — my answer for so many things around the barn! 🙌 Just flip the hook/strap over the branch, pull it down, and tie it off to the ladder. Super simple hack!

Bonus: scored some delicious, healthy treats for my boys in the process! 🍃 Did you know mulberry trees are super helpful for horses with insulin resistance problems? Now you do! 🐴
