๐ข Itโs with the heaviest heart that I have to share that sweet Old Man Bruiser, has sadly passed away. ๐๐พ I knew it would be an uphill battle but I wanted to give him every chance I could. I donโt know what his body was fighting internally but he just wasnโt strong enough to keep fighting.
My heart is absolutely broken, but Iโm finding comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain or suffering. In his final days, he was surrounded by so much love, care, kindness, and attention. He was comforted, cherished, and reminded every day that he mattered.
I wish I could have had more time with him. I wish his story had a different ending. But I am so incredibly grateful for everyone that helped donate to him and contributed to his care during his rescue. I got the chance to show him what true love feels like before he left this world. He didnโt die in pain or alone on the side of the road.
Sometimes, rescuing doesnโt mean we get to save them forever. Sometimes, it means giving them comfort, dignity, and love when they need it most.
I will carry him in my heart forever. Run free, sweet boy. You were loved. You mattered. And Iโm so grateful I got to be part of your story. ๐๐พโค๏ธ
โผ๏ธ And in a twist of fate, another dog got dumped on a gravel road and I picked her up over the weekend. She is now in my care and will be groomed and vetted this week. Any funds left over from Bruisers donations will be put towards her rehabilitation so she can be adopted out ASAP! Pics coming soon so stay tuned.
