🐢 Meet Pickles, the newest member of the Mark The Reptile Guy family! 🥒
This handsome red-footed tortoise had quite the adventure before making his way to us. He was actually found wandering the streets all by himself! Thankfully, he was found by an awesome family and they contacted the FWC’s Exotic Pet Amnesty Program who stepped in, and we were incredibly honored to be contacted and chosen as his official adopters.
He is already settling right in, exploring his new grassy yard, and getting lots of love. Red-footed tortoises are known for their big personalities, and Pickles is already showing off his as he checks out his new surroundings!

Drop a 💚 in the comments to welcome Pickles to his new forever home! What kind of fresh fruit do you think we should give him for his first welcome treat?

Happy Anniversary to my amazing wife, Nicole Kimmel ! 🎉
Let’s be honest: being married to “Mark The Reptile Guy” means you never quite know what kind of wild and crazy endeavor is coming through the front door next. Thank you for never running away, even when things get a little scaly!
Through every up, down, and crazy adventure, you have stuck by my side. You are the warm heart to my cold-blooded critters, and I couldn’t do any of this without your endless patience and support.
Here’s to many more years of love, laughter, and whatever wild things come our way next. I love you, Mrs. Mark The Reptile Guy! 🦎❤️🐍

One of the lil geckos we took in has made her way to a new home! She is now a classroom pet at Canoe Creek K-8 and will be a wonderful addition to the classroom. Having a pet in the classroom sparks curiosity, teaches empathy, and instills responsibility. There are so many benefits to having a pet in the classroom! If you are an educator in Osceola County and are interested in adopting a reptile for your classroom, reach out to us at markthereptileguy.com. We have a few animals that we have taken in that are looking for their forever home! Need some help with funding for a class pet? Checkout Pets In the Classroom , a non profit that helps with some of the cost of having a class pet!

🐍 DID YOU KNOW? — BALL PYTHON EDITION! 🐍

Did you know ball pythons get their name from their favorite defensive move? 🤯

When a ball python feels threatened, it may curl itself into a tight BALL, tucking its head safely inside its coils. 🐍⚽ Instead of looking for a fight, these snakes often rely on staying hidden and protected.

🌍 Ball pythons are native to West and Central Africa.
🌙 They’re most active around dusk, dawn, and nighttime.
👅 Like other snakes, they use their forked tongue to collect scent particles and help investigate their surroundings.
🥚 Female ball pythons lay eggs and coil around them while they develop.
🎨 Selective breeding in captivity has produced many different color and pattern varieties, often called morphs.

Ball pythons are a great example of why snakes deserve understanding and respect—not fear! 💚🐍

Did you already know how the ball python got its name?

We’ve acquired quite a few animals over the years! Every year, we have to renew our permit with the state of Florida, allowing us to bring our reptiles into the public for educational purposes. When applying or renewing your permit, you’re required to disclose all of the animals in your facility, along with any potential animals you plan to acquire within the year.

Wishing a happy National Principal day to the best principal, and assistant principals, I know! Mr. Noyes and his assistant principals, Ms Woollet and Ms Petrangeli make a great team! They are full of energy and have a true passion for what they do. I consider myself lucky, knowing that my kid’s school has such a great administrative team! I wish all three of you the best and I wholeheartedly thank you for all that you do for the students, families, and staff of Canoe Creek K-8!
