A little over a month ago, Mouse was found tied to a fire hydrant. She was just a puppy and she was sick.

Thankfully, someone found her and brought her to the shelter.

Mouse tested positive for parvo. If someone hadn’t found her when they did, there is a very real chance she would have died there.

Mouse needed veterinary care.
Instead, someone tied her to a fire hydrant and walked away.

Thankfully, somebody else saw a little life worth stopping for.

Mouse spent about a week at the vet being treated for parvo. When she was finally well enough to come back to the shelter, she then spent another three weeks in quarantine to protect the other dogs in our care.

She loves people. She loves attention. She loves playing. She’s goofy and affectionate and so happy to finally be able to run around and interact with everyone.

She is only five months old.
She has already been abandoned, fought a disease that could have killed her, spent a week hospitalized, and spent most of the following month in quarantine.
And somehow, she is still one of the sweetest little puppies.

Mouse is healthy, out of quarantine, and officially available for adoption. 🐭🤍

Garfield was found outside by a kind woman who knew he needed help and was able to get him to us.

He arrived extremely thin with one of the worst flea infestations we have ever seen.

Garfield is a heartbreaking reminder of why we talk about spaying and neutering so often.

There are simply too many cats being born and not enough homes waiting for them.

One unaltered cat may not feel like a big deal. One unexpected litter may not feel like a big deal. But those kittens grow up. They have kittens of their own. And eventually, shelters and communities are left with more cats than there are people able to care for them.

And cats like Garfield are the ones who pay the price.

They live outside. They battle fleas and parasites. They go hungry. They get sick or injured. And many of them will never be lucky enough to have someone stop and bring them somewhere safe.

Garfield was one of the lucky ones.

He is safe now and has been seen by the vet. His belly is full. His fleas are being treated. And from here on out, this sweet boy gets to know what it feels like to be cared for. 🧡

We owe a HUGE thank you to Tina Myers, who absolutely spoiled our dogs with an incredible donation of toys. ❤️

There were so many that we got to walk around and let our dogs pick out new toys of their very own—and as you can see, they were pretty happy with their choices. 🥹

Tina, you brought a whole lot of happiness into our shelter with this donation. Seeing so many of our dogs light up over their new treasures made our staff just as happy as it made them.

Thank you for thinking of our dogs, for spoiling them, and for making their time here a little brighter. ❤️ You made a lot of tails wag, and you made our staff pretty happy too. ❤️
