☀️ Happy First Day of June! ☀️
Summer is here, bringing longer days, warmer weather, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with our pets! 🐾
As temperatures rise, remember these important summer safety tips:
💧 Keep water available at all times
🌳 Provide plenty of shade when outdoors
🔥 Avoid hot pavement that can burn sensitive paw pads
🦟 Stay current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention
🚗 Never leave pets unattended in a vehicle
⚠️ Some pets are at an even higher risk for heat stroke, especially brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds such as Bulldogs, Pugs, French Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, and Persian cats. Because they have shorter airways, these pets can have a harder time cooling themselves and should be monitored closely in warm weather.
Signs of heat stroke can include excessive panting, drooling, weakness, and vomiting. These symptoms require immediate veterinary care.
