Teton River Retrievers

Teton River Retrievers Welcome to Teton River Retrievers, where we specialize in breeding high-quality Labrador Retrievers.

08/25/2026

Meet Axl, one of our newest stud prospects here at Teton River Retrievers. He’s barely a year old yet, but this young dog is already showing the kind of talent and composure we love to see in a future stud.
Axl will be heading to The Grands in St. Louis, Missouri this September, and at the same time he’ll be competing to earn his Junior title. Big stage, big goals, and a whole lot of potential.
He’ll officially join our stud lineup next year, and we’re excited to watch his progress every step of the way. Wish this young gun dog luck — he’s just getting started

Why Teton River Retrievers Is Different — And Why It Matters

Most people are just buying a dog. They scroll, see a cute face, look at the price, and make a quick decision. It happens every single day — and it’s exactly why so many families end up with heartbreak, medical bills, and dogs who never reach their potential.

Our dogs are not part of that category!

When you invest in a Teton River Retriever, you’re not buying a “cheap dog.” You’re not buying a dog you’ll dump money into for the next decade. You’re not buying a dog with unknown genetics, questionable structure, or hidden issues waiting to surface. And while I can’t play God or promise nothing will ever happen, what I can say is that we do everything humanly possible to ensure you’re getting one of the healthiest, most structurally sound, best‑bred Labradors available anywhere.

We don’t cut corners.
We don’t gamble.
We don’t hope for the best.
We engineer it.

The Hard Truth: Cheap Dogs Become Expensive Dogs

I couldn’t tell you how many hundreds of clients have called us because they made the same mistake so many people make. They bought a dog that was “a little cheaper.” They thought they were saving money. And then the reality hit. They ended up spending $10,000–$15,000 in medical issues.

They watched their dog suffer.
They watched their dog slow down at 5 or 6 years old.
They watched their dog pass away at 7, 8, or 9 — far too young. It was a huge loss for them.
It was a burden they carried for years.
And it was completely preventable. After doing their research, they realized something important:

There are breeders out there who actually care about the dog’s life.
There are breeders who put in the work.
There are breeders who do everything possible to ensure you get a dog built for longevity, health, and performance. That’s what we do here.

What Goes Into Our Dogs Genetics:

We run the full 274‑marker Labrador genetic panel — every known defect, mutation, and inherited condition the breed has ever been associated with. We breed out all of them. That means you’re getting a dog with a clean, solid genetic foundation. Pedigree Research We dig deep into ancestry, longevity, temperament, and structural soundness. We don’t breed allergies. We don’t breed weak hips. We don’t breed unstable temperaments. We breed dogs that are built to last. OFA Certifications Hips, elbows, eyes — all done through OFA,
the highest standard in the country.

Early Development:
ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation)
ESI (Early Scent Introduction)
These protocols give our puppies a head start in confidence, adaptability, and working ability.Feeding & Nutrition Just like you give your kids vitamins, we do the same for our dogs.
We don’t feed cheap food.
We feed high‑quality nutrition and even supplement with homemade food specifically designed for the Labrador Retriever — formulated by veterinarians and dietitians.

Training & Support:

You’re not left alone after pickup.
We offer free one‑on‑one training for life.
We’re adding monthly training sessions where clients can show up, ask questions, and get hands‑on help.
You get access to our full training guide.
And if you’re still struggling, we’re a phone call away. Training the dogs are simple they were bred this way "simple!"

Training the owner is the hard part.
And that’s where we stand behind you 100%.

Longevity:

Our Mission:

10 years ago, the average Labrador lifespan was around 10 years.
That’s not good enough for us. Our goal is to produce Labradors that live 20 years.
That’s significant.
That’s meaningful.
That’s life‑changing.
You put all this time, money, love, care, and effort into your dog — just for them to start going downhill at 5 or 6 years old? To stop hunting? To suffer? To need surgeries? To pass away early? That’s not fair to them.
And it’s heartbreaking for you.
We have dogs that are 6, 7, 8 years old that are just hitting their prime.
We have dogs that hunt until the day they pass.
We have dogs that stay structurally sound, mentally sharp, and physically capable well into their senior years. That’s what this is about.

Why Our Program Becomes the Only Real Option:

When people dig into what we do, they usually end up saying the same thing:“I don’t just want a Labrador anymore — I want one of your Labradors.”And here’s why:

Health isn’t a bullet point — it’s the foundation. Temperament isn’t an accident — it’s intentional. Structure isn’t luck — it’s engineered.
Longevity isn’t a hope — it’s a goal backed by science.
Support isn’t a bonus — it’s part of the program.
Training isn’t optional — it’s included for life.
Knowledge isn’t common — it’s earned through years of experience.
Once you understand all of this, “shopping around” stops feeling smart and starts feeling risky.

People don’t travel hours, fly states, and wait on deposit lists for average.
They do it for dogs that consistently perform, consistently stay healthy, and consistently carry the same temperament and structure generation after generation.

Our litters aren’t a gamble.
They’re the result of a system that’s been refined over years. When you invest in that, you’re not just hoping for a good dog — you’re stacking the deck in your favor.

Our Promise:

We don’t just produce Labradors.
We produce Teton River Retrievers — and that means something.
We are here to give you a better opportunity at a good dog.
A healthier dog.
A longer‑living dog.
A dog that becomes part of your family for as long as possible.
We are here to ensure that you succeed and your dog succeeds.
We are here to stand behind you 100%.
We are here to change what people expect from a Labrador Retriever.

This is what sets us apart.

This is why we do what we do.
And this is why our dogs stand out among the best in the world.

If you're considering buying a dog from another breeder or a backyard breeder, ask them these questions

#1 Are you doing all of your OFA certifications on hips, elbows, and eyes? Not “planning to,” not “working on it,” not “my vet said they’re fine.” Are they done, and can you prove it?

#2 Full Genetic Testing — Are you running the complete genetic panel, or just the bare minimum? Are your dogs carriers for anything? If so, what? Carriers pass defects to future generations and can affect quality of life.

#3 Pedigree Documentation — Can you send me the full pedigree? Not a screenshot, not a verbal summary — the actual documented pedigree.

#4 OFA Proof — Can you send me the official OFA certificates? These are public records. If they won’t send them, that’s a red flag.

#5 DNA Results — Can you send me the full DNA test results? Not “after the deposit,” not “once the puppies are born.” I want the results now.Breeding Purpose — Why are you pairing these two dogs together? What makes them a good match genetically, structurally, and temperament‑wise? If they can’t explain it, they shouldn’t be breeding.

#6 Proof Before Deposit — Do you provide all documentation before a deposit is placed? If they say no, walk away. That is how scams happen.

#7 Transparency — If they claim “people have stolen my dog’s information,” that’s an excuse. OFA, pedigrees, and DNA results are public access. A reputable breeder has nothing to hide.

#8 Longevity Focus — What are you doing to improve lifespan? Are you selecting for longevity? Are you tracking health across generations?Nutrition Program — What do you feed your dogs? Are you using high‑quality food? Are you supplementing? Are you following breed‑specific nutritional guidance?

#8 Early Development — Do you perform ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) and ESI (Early Scent Introduction)? If not, why not?Training Support — Do you offer lifetime support? One‑on‑one training? Guidance after pickup? Or do they hand you a puppy and disappear?

#9 Client Outcomes — How many clients have come back with medical issues? How many dogs have had structural problems? A reputable breeder tracks this. Generational Quality — Are you breeding for improvement each generation, or just producing puppies? What measurable progress have you made in your program?

#10 Why These Questions Matter:

These questions expose the difference between: someone who breeds dogs and someone who builds a program They reveal whether a breeder is doing the bare minimum or truly protecting the dog’s future. They show whether the breeder is producing puppies… or producing healthy, long‑living, structurally sound Labradors backed by science, ethics, and accountability. And when clients ask these questions, they quickly realize why Teton River Retrievers stands out — because every single one of these questions is already answered in our program.

Proven Ranch‑Raised Hunting Dog & Companion

She's that perfect age passed the puppy phase she is 5.5 years old

This female grew up working daily on a 2,200‑acre ranch, hunting upland almost every day and becoming rock‑solid in the field.
She’s been hunted, handled birds, and put in real miles, and it shows in her confidence, nose, and natural hunting rhythm.

Home & Temperament
sweet, and phenomenal indoors
Great with kids
Adaptable, confident, eager to please
Excellent off‑switchTraining & Obedience
House broke
Knows sit, stay, here, heel, hold
Leash trained
Delivers to hand
Excellent around cats and chickens

Very biddable and responsive Field Experience
Upland:
Daily ranch work; strong nose; hunts with purpose and intelligence

Waterfowl: Transitions well with a small tune‑up

Shed hunting: Started and shows natural ability
Solid drive with excellent control

Force Fetch Notes
She was never fully finished through formal Force Fetch, so she can be a little mouthy with birds at times. She still holds and delivers to hand, just occasionally needs a quick correction. Easy to tune up for someone who knows dogs.

Breeding & Current Status
She has been bred previously and has not been working during that time. She will be spayed before placement.

Ideal Home
She’s perfect for someone wanting a trained, proven hunting companion who also settles beautifully in the home. And is Great with kids She has plenty of life left, plenty of love to give, and the kind of field experience you can’t teach — only earn.

These dogs are bred to be solid, dependable, and to live long, healthy, quality lives. She is fully clear on her DNA panel of 274 genetic markers and has passed all of her OFA certifications through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. Breeding rights will not be transferred, but her full AKC registration paperwork will be provided. She is up to date on worming, vaccinations, rabies, and is microchipped

We are very selective about where she goes. She will only be placed with someone who can provide a lifestyle where she still gets to enjoy the outdoors. We will meet in person and conduct an interview to ensure she is going to a home that fits her needs, her training, and her temperament.

For those wondering this is Echo ❤️

Just to be clear, she is not a line drive hunting dog. She's not trained as a field champion or for hunt tests in a simulated blind She is a field dog. She is set up to go out and work in the field, hunt close. Get in thick Cover flush birds, retrieve and delivered a hand " real world hunting experience"

The perfect family would be somebody who can value her as a family companion but still wants to get out and do some hunting with her. She makes a hell of an upland dog!. I have her priced very reasonable! Finish dogs are anywhere from 15 to 20,000. A Started dog range anywhere from $6,500 to 9000 and we're asking a lot less than that. What's important to me is that she goes to a good home or she is going to get a lot of love. We are looking for somebody who is retired. Takes very good care of their dogs. Gets out and does a few hunts a year that doesn't want to deal with the puppy.

Meet: Teton River's Fire Raised Into Titan — "Titan"

Titan is the fun name we’ve been using for him here, and you’re welcome to change his formal name if you’d like. He’s a descendant of one of our most sought‑after pairings, so Titan felt fitting for him while he’s with us. We’ve focused more on commands than a fixed call name, so he isn’t overly attached to “Titan” yet.

His temperament is exactly what this line is known for — sweet, adaptable, versatile, and incredibly smart. He has a strong desire to please, a calm and mellow nature, and still carries that drive and willingness to work when asked.

He’s the kind of puppy that settles easily but rises to any purpose you give him.

Titan is almost 9 weeks old and is ready for his new home. If you would like to schedule to come meet him or if you're ready to bring him home, feel free to reach out. (208)709-5301
