Lacey Update 5 1/2 mo old pup "rehomed no longer available"
We wanted to provide everyone with an update on Lacey, who was recently returned to us by her previous owner.
We picked her up today and have already had the opportunity to spend some time working with her.
First and foremost, Lacey is an absolutely gorgeous Labrador Retriever. She looks remarkably similar to Copper and Phoenix and is a stunning example of the breed. It's clear that she has been fed high-quality food, received her supplements consistently, and has been physically cared for. She appears healthy, is in excellent condition, and is a beautiful little girl with a phenomenal pedigree behind her.
After spending the day with her, it's also become apparent that she has lacked some of the structure, guidance, and engagement that a young dog needs.
From the photos and information we received, much of her time seemed to be spent either in a kennel or running freely without much direction. Unfortunately, that's not an ideal situation for a young puppy during such an important stage of development.
Despite that, we're incredibly encouraged by what we've seen so far. Lacey is extremely attentive, highly responsive to training, and eager to engage.
We were able to build a connection with her very quickly and begin working on some foundational training that she has clearly been missing.
With consistency, patience, and the right owner, we believe she has the potential to become an exceptional dog.
She can be a little timid at first and may need some time to adjust to a new environment and routine, which is completely understandable given the circumstances. Now with all that said, being able to spend a bit more time with her today, she has really come out of her shell. It is a tough transition for a 5 and 1/2 -month-old puppy to transition into a new one We see this all the time with dogs that come in for training. Typically it takes 2 to 3 days for them to really get used to the new environment, but she's coming out of her shell very quickly and adapting to a new situation extremely well.
What she needs now is structure, leadership, attention, and love.
The good news is that she has all the qualities we look for in a dog that is capable of making rapid progress once those needs are consistently met.
Situations like this are always difficult. We work hard to thoroughly vet every family and individual who adopts one of our dogs. Our goal is always to place them in homes where they will be loved, trained, exercised, and cared for throughout their lives. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, things do not always work out as intended.
This is exactly the type of situation we strive to prevent.
While Lacey was not abused and appears to have been physically cared for, she was lacking some of the attention, guidance, and developmental support that every young dog deserves. You can see the effects of that in some of her behaviors and overall confidence.
The good news is that she's now back with us, and we are dedicated to helping her move forward. We will continue working with her every single day to help establish routine, build confidence, improve her training, and give her the structure that is so important at this stage in her life.
Our goal is to give her every opportunity to succeed and be fully prepared when the right family comes along.
Lacey is currently available and looking for her forever home. If you've been searching for a Labrador with a phenomenal bloodline, incredible potential, and stunning looks, she may be exactly what you're looking for.
She is priced accordingly to give new owners the option to invest in a few months working with a professional trainer or continuing the training process themselves. again she has great potention but will not be placed with anyone whom don't understand the commitment or how to train. At least until we have established solid discipline structure and routine. As we put in time into training and she progresses her price will go up to reflect her progress.
We truly believe that with the right commitment, Lacey will grow into an incredible companion. She has all the tools to be a phenomenal dog. Right now, she simply needs someone willing to put in the time, provide consistent leadership, and give her the love and attention she deserves.
We will continue doing everything we can to ensure she has the brightest future possible and ultimately finds the perfect forever home.
