Yay! Welcome! 🐾🐾♥️
Help us welcome our NEW Foster & Rescue Coordinators, Sara & Shasta! 🥳
They’ve been a part of our Bradshaw team for several years and have worked/volunteered with many different foster/rescue organizations. We are so excited for them and can’t wait to see the positive changes they’ll bring to the foster/rescue program. Learn more about Sara and Shasta below.
Want to join our foster/rescue team? We are always looking for new and old fosters and rescues to partner with to help save lives at the shelter. About Sara:
“I’ve worked at Bradshaw for 6 ½ years, and have been in the animal care field 10 years (dog lodging facility, dog training, ER vet clinic). I have a soft spot for senior dogs and black cats, and I love working with the large dogs in shelter playgroups. I came to Bradshaw with a lot of knowledge on dog behavior, which has helped our shelter run playgroups and I look forward to starting classes for my Dog Lifesaving Certification (DLC) this summer. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology with a focus on primate behavior and cultural studies, and I have enjoyed volunteering at a chimpanzee sanctuary and at the Folsom Zoo.
About 4 years ago, I got my first experience with the Bradshaw foster team when I assisted foster providers while the previous coordinator was out on medical leave. I learned a lot about caring for orphaned kittens, communicating with fosters, working with the vet staff, scheduling spay/neuter and specialty surgeries. Animal care is a tough job, but the rewards are worth it.” – Sara, Foster Coordinator
About Shasta:
“I have always been drawn to working with animals, a love that was fueled by growing up in a family full of animals. Early on in life, I started working with wildlife when my mom started Northern California Bats, and then later on I started working with fawns through Kindred Spirits Fawn Rescue. During my senior year of high school, I really found my passion when volunteering at Yolo County Animal Services. Shortly after graduating high school, I took a temporary position at Yolo County and then bounced around to a few different animal-based jobs as I learned what I wanted to do.
In 2017, I found my way to Bradshaw Animal Shelter where I worked as an Animal Care Attendant and now the Rescue Coordinator. Previously, I assisted with our foster/rescue program as much as possible and have found a particular love of working with rescues to give our shelter animals the best chance to succeed! I am extremely excited to continue this journey and create many lasting rescue partnerships!” – Shasta, Rescue Coordinator
Sara and Shasta can’t wait to get to you know! Stay tuned for more details about a foster/rescue program meet and greet where new/old fosters and rescues will have a chance to meet Sara and Shasta, learn more about the program and give feedback.
