It’s funny that pretty often with younger dogs during the first few grooming sessions will show me only their rear ends at first but end the appointment facing forward toward me. I have many puppy before and after like this. I think it’s a confidence building thing. Dogs can be kinda insecure when it comes to eye contact and their body language is not the same as a humans. They’ll offer their most defensible side first. We see this is the wiggle b***y greetings from shy or overexcited dogs all the time. It’s reassuring to me to see that by the end of a haircut, they want to give me their full attention. I reassure them all the time that I’m not going to hurt them, and sometimes it’ll be really obvious when they realize it’s true!
