Big news out of South Carolina! 🚨🐾

Our recent Safe Housing grantee, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, just officially broke ground on a massive expansion that will change the landscape of rescue and crisis support.

When survivors flee domestic violence, up to 50% report they wouldn't consider a shelter if they couldn't bring their pets. Far too many communities lack the resources to handle this, but Lucky Dog is stepping up to bridge that gap. Their incredible new Phase II building will feature dedicated kennel spaces created in partnership with RedRover and the P*e Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault.

Instead of being forced to leave a beloved animal behind, survivors in the region will now have a pathway to safety that keeps their pets right by their side. Combined with soundproofed puppy nurseries and medical healing suites, this campus is going to double its capacity to protect the vulnerable.

We are so incredibly proud to invest in this project. Congratulations to the Lucky Dog team on taking this giant step forward for animals and families! 🌟🏡

During National Pet Month, we are incredibly proud to announce that RedRover has awarded $473,085 in Safe Housing grant funding in our first grant round of the year!

Thanks to our partners at Purina and our generous anonymous donors, eight organizations across the country can now create or expand dedicated programming for pets of those experiencing domestic violence or homelessness. Four of these domestic violence shelters received a RedRover and Purina grant to help bring survivors and their pets from crisis to care.

We love seeing our mission in action! 💚📖

Huge thanks to the University of North Dakota for highlighting this incredible pilot program. Through a UND CONNECT grant, clinical assistant professor Chelsea Hughes and 14 dedicated social work students brought RedRover Readers to North Dakota for the first time this spring!

By pairing animal-focused stories with open-ended discussions, they are giving children the tools to practice empathy, understand different perspectives, and explore emotional awareness in a fun, supportive space.

We are so grateful for this beautiful partnership and thrilled that RedRover Readers will be returning to the Grand Forks Public Library this fall to help even more children learn, connect, and grow! 🐾✨
