Teaching our dogs to be polite in public spaces is key if we are taking them restaurants, coffee shops and breweries. Learning how to settle, to ignore other people and dogs walking by, and not jumping on servers are all behaviors we teach in our Perfect Patio Pup class in our group class membership

Meet a trainer!

Kelsey has loved being around dogs her whole life. In 2017, she turned that passion into a career when she started walking dogs for Midtown Mutts and discovered a connection with shy and fearful dogs. She found joy in helping them come out of their shell and build confidence.

Kelsey is a graduate of the Victoria Stilwell Academy. She has a soft spot for German Shepherds and loves helping owners build their relationships with their dogs based on trust and understanding.

When we are teaching our dogs to walk loosely on leash, there are a lot of behaviors and positions to us that we can reinforce. When our dogs check in with us, when we see slack in the leash, etc. Treating our dogs as they hit the end of their leash can create a check in behavior where they look for reinforcement as they approach the end of their line and prevent pulling, letting our dogs know there is a range of where we’d like them to be in relation to us on our walks.
