Whew! It was a busy week at Sac Veterinary Clinic. Sometimes when you’re busy, having fun gets moved waaaaay to the bottom of the list. So we decided to put it back towards the top!

It’s been a secret mission of the ladies at Sac Vet Clinic to either scare Dr. Kurt, or make him laugh very hard. We opted for scare- way more fun.

Special thanks to Emily Trumm and Maddy Hoover for designing and executing this very important mission!

Emily, a current vet student at ISU, and Maddy, a familiar face at the clinic, both stepped in when we needed some extra hands this week. You ladies are the best! Thanks for the help and the FUN!

🐶Heads Up from Our Clinic!🐱

Dr. Amberly and Dr. Kurt will be out of the office from August 1-8.

🐾While they take a paws, we will have adjusted hours and appointment availability:

Clinic Open
Monday, Aug 3: 8-1pm
Tuesday, Aug 4: 8-1pm
Wednesday, Aug 5: 8-12pm
Thursday, Aug 6: 8-1pm
Friday, Aug 7: 8-1pm

💉We will not have small animal appointments available with a Doctor.

🐕Technician appointments are available on Monday and Tuesday: heartworm tests and nail trims.

🐄Large animal calls will be limited and scheduled as availability allows.

💊Medication pickup is available, please call ahead to have them filled.

☀️ **Heat Stroke in Pets: Know the Signs & Act Fast!** 🐾

As temperatures rise, our furry friends are at risk of heat stroke—a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate attention.

🚨 **Signs of Heat Stroke in Pets:**
• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Drooling more than usual
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Weakness, lethargy, or collapse
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Disorientation or stumbling
• Seizures or loss of consciousness

❗ **What to Do Immediately:**
✅ Move your pet to a cool, shaded, or air-conditioned area.
✅ Offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water.
✅ Wet your pet with cool water, focusing on the paws, belly, and neck.
✅ Use fans to help lower body temperature.
✅ Contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary clinic right away.

🚫 **Do NOT:**
• Use ice baths or extremely cold water, as this can worsen the situation.
• Force your pet to drink.
• Wait to see if symptoms improve on their own.

Remember: Heat stroke can happen quickly, even on days that don't seem excessively hot. Never leave pets in parked vehicles, and always provide access to fresh water and shade.

If you suspect your pet is experiencing heat stroke, seek veterinary care immediately. Early treatment can save lives. ❤️🐾

Meet Aubrie Stell! Aubrie is a current student at South Dakota State University with hopes of attending Veterinary school at Iowa State University. She is getting some hands on experience with us this summer with both large and small animal work.

Aubrie has local ties to the Lytton area as she is the grand-daughter of Ron and Cheryl Haden.

We are excited to have Aubrie with us this summer!

Sweet Ada is a first time mom! ❤️

She came into the clinic for a quick check to make sure she was doing well after whelping- which she conquered like a champ. She will be a great mom!

Fun fact: puppies are born blind and deaf and don’t open their eyes or hear anything until shout 1-2 weeks of age.
