🇺🇸 **Labor Day Holiday 🇺🇸

Make sure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccine!

"On July 2, the N.C. State Lab of Public Health notified Rutherford County Animal Control staff that a raccoon that had been tested from the vicinity of Darlington Road and Maple Creek Road to Highway 221 North of the Gilkey Township area had tested positive for rabies.

There was no reported human exposure with the raccoon."

Our office will be closed Saturday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.

If your pet has a medical emergency while we are closed, please contact your nearest emergency veterinary hospital.

We hope you and your furry family members have a fun and safe holiday! ❤️🤍💙 Remember to keep pets indoors during fireworks, make sure they have updated ID tags or a microchip, and provide a quiet, secure place for them to relax.

🐾 Heat Warning for Pets 🐶🌡️

With temperatures on the rise, dogs can develop heat stroke much faster than people. It can become life-threatening in just minutes.

Watch for these warning signs:
🐾 Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
🐾 Thick, sticky drool
🐾 Bright red or pale gums
🐾 Weakness, stumbling, or collapse
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea
🐾 Confusion, seizures, or loss of consciousness

Help prevent heat stroke:
☀️ Walk your dog early in the morning or later in the evening.
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water.
🌳 Keep pets in the shade or indoors during the hottest part of the day.
🐾 Test the pavement with your hand—if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws.
🚗 Never leave a pet in a parked car, even for a few minutes.

If you suspect heat stroke:
Move your dog to a cool area immediately, wet them with cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact your veterinarian or the nearest emergency veterinary hospital right away. Rapid treatment can save a life.

Fireworks may be fun for us, but they can be frightening for our pets. Loud noises can cause anxiety, panic, and even lead to pets escaping from their homes.

If your pet has a history of being anxious during fireworks, don’t wait until the last minute to request anxiety medication. Call our office now so we can discuss the best options for your furry family member before the celebrations begin.

Here are a few ways to help keep your pet calm:
🐾 Keep them indoors in a safe, quiet room.
🐾 Close windows and curtains to reduce noise and flashing lights.
🐾 Turn on the TV or music for background noise.
🐾 Make sure your pet is wearing an ID tag and that their microchip information is up to date.
