About self-doubt...

As much as social media might make it look like I have all the confidence in the world when I'm taking photos, I don't. I get very nervous when a horse I'm photographing enters the course. Will I miss focus? Will I miss the jump? Will a cloud shield the sun and make my exposure too dark? WILL I GET ANY GOOD PHOTOS?

And yet, in spite of my doubts, I put the camera up to my eye, take a deep breath, say a prayer, and do my best. And sometimes, like today, it pays off and I create something I've never created before and that I love.

I don't think the self-doubt will ever go away, and I don't think I want it to. The humility it carries keeps me from getting comfortable and complacent about my work and makes me try hard to do my very best every time.
