The heat is heavy, the weeds are thriving, the flowers are a little wild, and the garden is definitely showing that late-summer look. 😅 But tucked among it all are still so many beautiful blooms doing their thing!

Yes, you can still start lettuce this time of year! With a little extra care—like afternoon shade, consistent watering, and choosing the right varieties—you can enjoy homegrown lettuce in just a few weeks.

Some of my favorite heat-tolerant, quick-maturing options are:

Found these tiny little guys growing at the ground in my sunflower patch. They were maybe 12 inches tall.

Aren’t they the cutest?!🥹

What a happy little surprise! My sunflowers are so much taller than what the seed packs estimated😂 but my spacing is really tight.

I’m about 5’9” for reference!
