With putting on the Fundays activities we will be closing early Friday afternoon, and we will be closed for the weekend! We will also be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.

Patient care will continue as normal but there will be no office hours.

A Little Fall Schedule Update

Fall is a busy time around here, and for a few Saturdays our team will be working out of the office! This means we will not have regular office hours on those Saturdays, but patient care will continue as normal.

We kindly ask that you plan ahead for medications, routine appointments, and other non-emergency needs. We appreciate your understanding as we’re out taking care of patients in the field!

🐍 Rattlesnake season is here! Know the signs that your animal most likely encountered a rattlesnake and have an emergency plan in place BEFORE a bite happens.

When in doubt, call your veterinarian. A rattlesnake bite is always worth taking seriously.

Breeding Season 2026 🐴❤️

And just like that, the 2026 equine breeding season is in the books!

We are incredibly proud to say that we bred 84 mares through Beguin Veterinary Service this season!
73 Quarter Horses, 1 Arabian, 1 Fjord, 4 thoroughbreds, and 5 ponies.

I want to take a moment to say a HUGE thank you to every mare owner who trusted me with their mares and their breeding programs this year. It is an honor to be trusted with something as important as helping bring the next generation of horses into the world.

From reproductive exams and ultrasounds to breeding management, we are so grateful for every client who allowed us to be a part of their program. We truly appreciate your confidence, your support, and the opportunity to work with your mares.

Now we wait for those 2027 foals! Photos of a few of them cooking below!

GROSS BUT IMPORTANT:
CUTEREBRA IN DOGS, CATS, AND BUNNIES

Ever find a strange lump with a tiny hole on your dog or cat? Especially if they spend time outdoors? It could be a Cuterebra larva, commonly called a botfly or “warble.”

Cuterebra larvae can enter through the skin and develop underneath it, creating a lump with a small breathing hole. You may notice swelling, drainage, licking, or even see the larva moving!

DO NOT squeeze or try to remove it yourself! If the larva ruptures during removal, it can cause significant inflammation or an allergic reaction.

Your veterinarian can safely remove the larva and determine if additional treatment is needed.

If you find a mysterious lump with a hole, especially on an outdoor pet, have it checked by your veterinarian!
