Last week, Thelma and Louise made a visit to our favorite veterinarian, Dr. Dan at Mobile Veterinary Practice (MVP). We are happy 🤩 to report that both girls received excellent exam results and a clean bill of health ✅️

Thelma 💜 weighed in at 5 lbs. 1 oz., while her slightly bigger sister, Louise 🩷, tipped the scales at 5 lbs. 8 oz.

A special thank you to Tammy and Gracie for doing us the honor of posing 📸 with Jana's precious girls. These ladies, along with the entire MVP staff, are truly the heart and soul of the clinic. Their kindness, dedication, and exceptional care mean so much to us, and we are incredibly fortunate 🍀to have such an amazing team looking after our puppies.

The countdown ⏳️ begins as these two join their new furever families. Be on the lookout 👀 for upcoming updates.

American Eskimos make wonderful family dogs. Their bond with their people is undeniable, and they truly thrive when included in family activities. When properly socialized, they are often affectionate and gentle with children.

One important consideration is teaching children how to interact appropriately and respectfully with their furry sibling. Supervision is especially important with younger children, as creating a positive relationship is a shared responsibility between both the dog and the child.

By nature, American Eskimos are alert and protective, making them excellent watchdogs. Their intelligence and eagerness to learn are among their greatest strengths, and training and playtime help strengthen their connection with family members.

These two characters are full of energy—every day is a new adventure for Thelma and Louise. They’ve been exploring both the house and the outdoors, and it’s exciting to watch their confidence grow as they encounter new sights and sounds. At times, they pause with alert curiosity, taking everything in while remaining a little cautious. With reassurance and praise, they respond beautifully and continue to gain confidence.

We highly recommend exposing your American Eskimo Dog (puppy) to a variety of people, dogs, environments, and new experiences from an early age. Eskies are naturally intelligent, alert, and sensitive companions. Proper socialization helps build confidence, encourages adaptability, and can prevent fear-based barking or anxious behaviors later on. The first 12 months are especially important in shaping a well-adjusted adult dog.

These two beauties are right on track. Puppies' eyes 👀 typically open between day 10-14. We can expect this to happen any day now. They're learning to sit up and support themselves on all fours. They've started interacting vocally, with little barks and squeaks. They look to each other for comfort 💞 and warmth. With the upcoming next few weeks, their development will accelerate, and their little personalities will emerge. Stay tuned for next week's progression!!

We apologize for the delayed update—our family experienced an unexpected emergency that required our full attention.

We’re grateful to share that everyone is safe and doing well. Our daughter made the difficult decision to leave Idaho after calling it home for the past five-plus years, and we’re supporting her through this transition. We are excited to have her and our grandson, Henry close to home.

Without further ado, we’re pleased to introduce Jana’s litter, born 4/21.

Two healthy female puppies arrived—one at 8:00 a.m., followed shortly by her sister. Jana had a smooth delivery and did an excellent job.

Both puppies are reserved. We’re especially grateful to welcome back one of our returning CD Kennels families—your continued trust in our program means a great deal to us.

Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and continued support of our kennel—it truly means so much to our family.

The countdown begins...

Jana's calm demeanor is a reassuring indication that she is handling the late stages of pregnancy with ease. Her ability to rest comfortably while maintaining her appetite and energy is a strong indicator of a healthy pregnancy.

The puppies' activity, as seen in the video, is a normal and encouraging sign of their development and preparation for birth. Things are looking promising. Please keep Jana in your thoughts as things unfold.
