Carolina Chinchilla Ranch is a top quality chinchilla breeder and rescue located in northern North Carolina on the Virginia border. Our focus in breeding is to produce top quality, healthy and friendly chinchillas for you to enjoy as part of your family - whether they're pets, or to possibly start up your

own herd. We devote our time and hearts into each individual animal born at my home. Tiffany purchased her first pair of chinchillas back in high school. She began breeding chinchillas as a hobby and to just own them as pets. These amazing creatures really take over your life in no time. After attending her first chinchilla show in 2008, She revamped my breeding herd as she realized her breeding pairs weren't considered breeding quality. Education is the key - there is a large difference in a pet quality chinchilla and breeding quality chinchillas. Her husband Mackenzie decided to join in on the adventure in 2020. Find a mentor who actually knows what they're doing and ask many questions! Our chinchillas have bloodlines from top breeders and ranchers including Hummel, La Paloma, Ritterspach, Ryerson, Shoots and Whitewoods to name a few. We also have our own bloodlines and have purchased several herds over the years. We are members of the Mutation Chinchilla Breeders Association (MCBA) and Empress Chinchilla Breeders Cooperative (ECBC) registered under the ranch brand "MTDY" previously and currently under "TIFF". Tiffany is an Empress sanctioned show judge and has judged shows under both organizations. Tiffany started the ECBC Southern Atlantic Branch which comprises MD, VA, TN, NC and SC, and has sat on board as president since it began. We breed for standard gray, black velvet, white, beige and ebony and the recessive mutation violet. Our Mutations are bred back to top quality standards in order to increase quality in the offspring. We do not breed animals that are not pedigreed or that do not meet show quality standards. We take in chinchillas in need and allow owner surrenders, even though we are not a full time rescue. We offer boarding at $25 a week per chinchilla. Our customers have ALWAYS been pleased with the chinchillas that we have produced and I hope that you will too! We custom make supplies for small animals that you won't find in a pet store but will be perfectly safe for your exotic animals and easy to deck out the cage! We have excellent prices and high quality products.

Umber is our last non angora that’s still hanging around the ranch. His brother just left this last week. We keep getting inquiries for babies, but they were claimed way before weaning. It’s a slow year as I’ve only had 5 babies so far. I’m really hoping things pick up soon. For more information on Umber, message us!

Flare and Nimbus are 4 year old standard gray males that were surrendered to us last week. After many dust baths and a good combing, their fur is looking 100 times better than when they came in, but has a long way to go. Hopefully, they will bulk up a bit and look cleaner over the next month or so. Contact us for more information.

It’s hot out there!

Please remember that chinchillas cannot handle heat, and they should be kept cool at all times. A fan isn’t going to cool a chinchilla, unfortunately. If you don’t have proper running cool air, place your chinchilla in a cool, running car until you do or get a hotel room or contact a rescue that can place your animal until you’re able to take care of it properly. Don’t take any risks when it comes to keeping them cool and risking heat stroke or death.

Make sure that you’re cleaning your window units to prevent them from freezing up, as well as servicing your hvacs regularly. Always have a backup and even a generator for if the power goes out.

This beautiful girl is currently boarding with us for a few months. She’s one of our babies and extremely dense and needed a rough grooming to get all the dead fur out. We provide this service for free for chins who board with us over a month.
