ck or card-There is a small processing fee with all cards). Adoption fee includes age-appropriate vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, Heartworm testing (dogs over 6 months of age), Stool Check and Dewormings and Microchipping. Spay/Neuter must be performed within a specified period of time from date of adoption for all pets over 6 months of age, or by a specific date noted on contract for pets under 6 months of age. We are proud to congratulate the Piedmont Community College Veterinary Assistant Class of 2026 on the successful completion of their program and pinning ceremony!

This class was taught by our very own Shelter Manager, Tabitha Briggs, and students completed multiple clinical hours at our shelter as part of their program requirements. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our shelter, staff, and animals with these dedicated students as they build their knowledge and hands-on skills in animal handling, restraint, preventive care, emergency care, surgical procedures, and more.

It has been wonderful to watch this group learn and grow, and we are excited to see where their careers in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Welfare take them. Congratulations, Class of 2026!

We are looking for new places to host our monthly adoption events and want the community's help! No one knows the county better than the people who live in it!🏠

If you own or work for a local business, have a favorite spot in town you like to hang out, or just want to see us somewhere else, please take a minute to fill out the survey below!

Please remember businesses will need adequate space or alternative locations for multiple vehicles and be able to house at least 1 table setup. A nearby grass area is a nice extra for the dogs to be able to potty!

All of our boys are already neutered and ready to go home! They are representing a wide range of size, age and breed, so finding the right fit is nice and easy!

We’re back at it again on June 6 with another FREE Rabies & Microchip Clinic, and you won’t want to miss it! 🐾💉

Bring your dogs and cats out to get vaccinated against rabies AND microchipped at absolutely NO COST (while supplies last). Keeping your pets protected and helping them find their way home if they ever get lost is one of the best gifts you can give them. ❤️

All you need to bring is your ID and your pets! (Proof of a prior rabies vaccine is also required for the three year vaccine). All animals must be at least twelve weeks old. Available to all NC residents. No appointments necessary.

Join our Animal Services Team!

Person County Animal Services is looking for a passionate and dedicated Placement and Program Coordinator to join our team! A vital role for someone who is committed to building community partnerships, improving animal outcomes, and leading impactful programs.

🌟What does it involve?
- Organize and promote community outreach events with local businesses and rescues to develop support.
- Maintain a Rescue Transfer Program which involves continued contact with new and already approved rescue groups and coordinating placement and transfer to rescue groups.
- Develops and maintains a Foster Program, including both short and long term foster program plans, goals and objectives.
- Works directly with other shelter staff to determine appropriate rehabilitation, placement, paths or maintenance for animals eligible for rescue or foster.
- Recruits, trains, supervises rescue groups and foster participants for respective programs.
- Maintains social media calendars and website pages with up to date and relevant information on programs and events.
- Promotes and plans yearly summer camp.
