As the Four Paws Staff prepares to close our doors for the final time next Friday, February 28th, we are concerned about a lot of things.
We are concerned about your pets, we are concerned about not seeing you guys again, we are concerned about not working together as a staff anymore.
But one of our biggest concerns of all is our “in-house” dog, Birdie. All of our other in-house crew (Elliott, Pippin, Sq**rt, and Radar) have either gone to new homes or have plans to do so. But we do not have a home for Birdie yet.
Birdie is a 10-year-old mixed breed dog (she’s a low-rider with some shepherd in there somewhere) who has lived with us for the past three-plus years. She is loving and sweet. She lets you know when another dog approaches, but we have found that she does well with dogs that are larger than her (one of her favorite playmates is a German Shorthair Pointer mix) and is very sweet with kids (see the picture of her with my almost four year old!). We are not sure how she does with small dogs or cats, but we have not had her around them.
Birdie just had full bloodwork (including a heartworm test) performed at the beginning of this month and everything came back good. Because we want to be completely transparent, know that she has had recurrent UTIs during her stay here and had some skin allergies (which we have treated with OTC Zyrtec and monthly medicated baths).
If you are at all interested or know of anyone who may be, please reach out to us or pass this along. We are a very small staff at this point and have all reached capacity with animals in our own homes. We would love to find this sweet girl a place to go before we close our doors.
Thank you guys for everything!
