PSA: in this crazy summer heat please don't walk your dogs. Reserve walks for early mornings and late evenings, especially under some shade 😎

🔥 Hottest day of the year in Texas PSA: Spare your dog's feet. No sidewalk/street walks in this kind of heat.

Their pads can get severely burned quickly when asphalt temps are approaching 150°. The surface is still very spicy in the evening hours too. Stick to morning walks if you can.

Fireworks may be fun for us, but they can be frightening—and even dangerous—for our pets. Here are a few tips to help keep them safe:
🐶 Make sure your pet's ID tags and microchip information are up to date.
📸 Take a recent photo of your pet, just in case they get lost.
🏡 Keep pets indoors in a secure, quiet room during fireworks.
🚪 Ask guests to be careful when opening doors and gates to prevent escapes.
🍔 Keep pets away from fireworks, sparklers, grills, table scraps, and other holiday hazards.
💧 Provide plenty of fresh water and shade, and never leave pets in a hot car.
🐴 Keep horses and livestock in secure, fenced areas away from the noise.
🩺 If your pet has severe anxiety, talk to your veterinarian before the holiday about ways to help before the holiday. ( Give us a call 737-284-2161 )
✨ After the celebrations, check your yard for fireworks debris, food scraps, skewers, or anything else that could be harmful before letting your pets back outside.
A little preparation can make all the difference. Have a safe and happy Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙

The other day, we had the pleasure of having Miss Ava shadow us in the clinic. While learning the ropes, she apparently decided our patient list needed one more addition. 😂🐾

All jokes aside, we're thrilled to share that little Madelyn has officially been adopted and found her forever home! ❤️

☀️🐾 Summer Safety Tips for Your Pets 🐾☀️

Summer is here to stay, and as temperatures continue to rise, it's important to help keep your furry family members safe and comfortable!

✅ Walk your dog during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or evening.
✅ Always provide plenty of fresh, clean water.
✅ Make sure your pets have access to shade and cool resting areas.
✅ Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
✅ Check pavement temperatures before walks—if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws!

⚠️ Watch for signs of overheating:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Bright red gums
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting or diarrhea

If you notice any of these signs, move your pet to a cool area, offer water, and contact your veterinarian immediately.

Let's keep our pets happy, healthy, and safe all summer long! ❤️🐶🐱
