Everything for a 9 week old is “new”. Everything.

Taking advantage of these everyday opportunities, and even creating simple opportunities like this to make positive associations will help your puppy become a curious, confident and resilient dog in life instead of nervous, fearful or overstimulated and stressed out.

It’s always stressful when one of our dogs/cats doesn’t feel well.

Now to try and recover the day since the whole morning got cancelled😭

We’re really thankful it wasn’t anything more serious than a sprain and we’re also thankful for pet insurance!🙏

We’ve had Penny for 4 days and this is the first time we’ve let these two meet.

Super important for your puppy to land and decompress for several days before meeting other dogs in the house.

We’ve focused on establishing crate naps, play routines, communication, potty training.

We want to establish a foothold and a baseline on those things before we set off and start “socializing”.

Going slower means less problems and makes everything much easier like sleeping better, less potty accidents, no mouthiness or nipping and much better for naps in the crate during the day

9 week old Standard Poodle puppy “Penny” arrived today🎉 She’ll live with us and our crew of cats and dogs for the next few weeks to learn all her basics.

We don’t do “Board and Train” programs at Dog Savvy, but we made an exception for a family friend.😉

But I will be posting tips and tutorials on how to make things super easy and simple (like potty training, crate training, nipping/mouthing, grooming, leash and collar, socialization do’s and dont’s!…all the things)

Follow her progress and see what we focus on, not what the flashy internet gurus tell you!

It’s not always about trying to get better “control” of your dogs behavior.

Emotions are often fueling the misbehavior or undesired behavior.

When you solve that, many ‘problems’ you had simply melt away.
