When we welcomed Turkey into our house, we expected goodbye to look a bit different. However, this is the best goodbye we could hope for. Kirky Turkey is headed back to his original foster where he will be long term fostered with backing from .
I’m sure this is perplexing many, but here’s the scoop. While Turkey still has his congenital heart issue, some of his measure improved far beyond what the cardiologist expected. While she can’t say for certain how long he may live, she did suggest it could be years if the medication continues to work as well as it has been. Knowing that we’re a rescue and not a sanctuary, we made the decision to look for a permanent home. Thankfully his original foster and rescue were elated to take him back as no one anticipated this surprising outcome. As exciting as this is for all, Turkey’s continued cared will be costly, around $2k/year for his biannual echocardiograms and daily meds. If you’d like to contribute towards his continued care, please consider donating to Ferallife Guards.
Goodbye is always the goal, and we’re grateful Turkey is getting a much happier ever after! Congrats, buddy!
