Trail history ***

Candy’s Connector

Once upon a time we had a little Shetland pony named Candy. Candy was maybe 10 hands, but she was a good teacher. (There are so many stories!)

Candy didn’t love going on trail rides, but she loved Odie, a 17 hand Standardbred. Odie had stiff joints and Candy had little legs. Together they would venture forth (just not very far!)

The Lower Cabin and Upper Cabin are both good trails and make a nice loop that isn’t very long. There is a tiny little seemingly insignificant trail that connects the two. Without it you couldn’t make the loop.

You guessed it. Candy’s Connector was named for that little seemingly insignificant pony. Looks aren’t everything and neither is size. Sometimes it’s the little ones that make the best memories! There is hardly a camper or guest that hasn’t been on Candy’s Connector!

Hedge trimmer! Who knew!

I used one on some of our bad briar trails at our Trail Clearing Retreat this last May!

Needless to say I pulled a Flynn Rider and exclaimed “I gotta get me one of these!”

A hedge trimmer quickly joined my trail clearing tools this summer and I have used it quite a bit already. But never without the Tangled quote!

*** Horse Highlight***

Governor!

This man doesn’t always have attention drawn to him, but he is usually there in the background!

Governor was the first horse foal bred and born right here on property. His parents, Apache and Ginger, were both faithful camp horses. Ginger has since retired, but Apache continues on the trail string with Governor often.

Governor is a faithful camper favorite. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact he is a wrangler favorite too!

Need a steady lead horse?

Need a good trotting lesson horse?

Need a drill team partner?

Need a Message From the Mount horse?

Need a horse to pony off of?

Need a babysitter for the autistic or scared rider?

Want a horse to ride English, western, or ba****ck?

Want to take a staff trail ride and do some off roading?

Need a dependable pony ride horse for riders ages 1-91?!?

Not many horses can fit all of those requirements, but Governor is definitely one who can!

We are very blessed to have this faithful steed as part of our program!

*Also Governor has a nice tail. Just apparently not as nice as some of the others in voters opinions!
